It sounds to me like maybe some of your friends are jealous and having a hard time being happy for you. Maybe I’m completely wrong??  But don’t let your girlfriends get you down, it’s a stunning ring.

As long as you love it it doesn’t really matter what other people have to say. It looks pretty, not too big at all. Once it is combined with your wedding band it will look complete.

It may be huge for your location. Where I live most center stones are between 0.5 and 1 carat. You’ll see bigger every once in a while, but it’s usually only on older or wealthier couples.

Next time they say that say, “yes, it’s huge.. just like my fiance’s… heart” LOL i think it’s a beautiful ring and anyone who won’t compliment you on it is just jealous about how beautiful it is!! 🙂

are you trying to pass it off as a diamond?  if one of my early-20s friends had shown up with that diamond, I would have been shocked– ’cause we were eating ramen noodles and struggling to pay rent.  it would definitely be “huge” because, if I thought it was a diamond, that’s a huge payment to make for someone at that age.

if you actually don’t want them commenting on how big it is, tell them the truth: “it’s actually moissanite, so we saved lots of money and look how sparkly it is!”

I have a 1.25 carat round cut solitaire diamond.  My finger is actually about a 4.5 but I sized the ring at a 5 due to my knuckle and to have some wiggle room.  I got the that is huge comment once, and heard a few people refer to it as a rock but in my head its really not that big, not in a shrinking way or a I wish it was bigger way.  That’s what all the women in my family had so thats normal to me.  I don’t think mine is huge and I don’t think its huge on your finger either.  The only time I get a sense that is sorta big is when I look at it from the side. but it is set kinda high.

Im sort of suprised your friends said anything about it.  I mostly have no one say anything about it here and I prefer it that way.  (But I haven’t been back home to show mine off yet so we will see what they say.) I think most people probably think its cz or something.  We don’t have an outlandish lifestyle, we have a modest income and we live in a studio apartment (by choice, we are saving the extra money to buy a house).

The people at my old job who said the its huge stuff and refered to it as a rock all have rings themselves and they are all different styles from mine with smaller center stones for the most part, I can only think of two coworkers who had similar stones didn’t say much of anything about it aside from congrats.  I think maybe your friends are just in awe of it or something like my former coworkers were.  I dunno about you but I have mostly found that in my day to day activities no one really notices it and thats fine with me. Smile

@bookworm88:  + 1

Your location of the San Fran bay area is a diverse area but there are plenty of influential areas were you would easily see women with 2, 3, and even 4 cts.  I agree with bookworm88 that your friends and family may question how you and your other half could afford it.  But again, it’s lovely and just enjoy it.  Who cares what they say, right?

Gorgeous! Are your friends younger/not yet engaged? They might just not be used to seeing engagement rings. It’s definitely not huge, it seems like a good size for your finger.

I love it! I think it looks gorgeous on you. I’ve seen it several times on here, and each time I question whether or not I should have gone with a round instead of an asshcer, haha. I have a similar setting to yours so it’s easy for me to make the comparison. And keep in mind, you have small fingers, so a 1 carat stone will look “huge” on you while it might look a lot smaller on others with larger fingers. People have told me mine looks huge before, and I always just think to myself, “damn right it is…” haha. I of course just smile and say thanks though.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.   People say that about mine all the time (1carrat princess) and I kind of look at them like “its not that big”.    I also have much bigger fingers so it deosn’t really look huge.

But I absolutely love it  And to me, thats the important part:)

One carat seems far from huge to me. Your ring looks perfect on your hand. I saw now that you are also adding a halo. Get ready for it to look even larger. I have a one carat and someday want to go to a 1.5 or 2 carat and my finger is size 6. I in no way feel a one carat is huge. If a larger diamond had been in our budget I’d be sporting it right now….lol.
