@sommertime:  Curious where in the bay area you are located? I find it surprising that people are reacting that way to your diamond considering what I see around SF on a regular basis. And your ring is perfect. ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all I think your ring is gorgeous!

Second, I dont know how old you or your friends are, but bigger rings are usually more popular among older/more established people. I know a girl who is 20 years old and just got a 3 ct engagement ring and my first reaction was “Wow, that’s HUGE,” because in my group of friends/people I interact with regularly, I rarely see anything above a carat.

And people will say ridiculous things no matter what your ring looks like. I honest to god had someone tell me my ring was “huge” once. My ring is .45 carats TOTAL. The center stone is only .25 hahaha. I was like “Ummmmm thank you….”

I think its beautiful! Granted.. this is the same ring that my huney and I fell in love with about a month ago (except in the princess cut version) and I know he plans on getting me at least 1ct.. and I am a size 7.

I will say, when I tried this ring on compared to other 1cts. it did feel bigger. Maybe its just the setting? Or maybe he just got a really sparkly diamond that makes it look big? Either way, I think it looks FANTASTIC on you. Congratulations on your engagement!

I have a 1ct center diamond with a halo and my finger is a size 4.5. I get the same comment all the time and I usually just say “Thanks! He did a great job.” At first it bothered me a little and my Fiance started apologizing for making me “uncomfortable!” Now I don’t care…Because all that matters to me is that I love it. I love waking up every morning and putting it back on my finger! Try to not let it get to you. Really, these people are probably (1) just jealous or (2) don’t know what to say.

It’s very pretty. FWIW I don’t think there is such a thing as too much bling. I’d rock Kim K’s if I could.

I have the same ring but the its princess cut. I also wear a size 5. I dont think it’s huge, it’s beautiful but think it’s average size.

I don’t think it’s huge in a bad way at all! It’s a very very nice size and looks beautiful on you! People have said the same to me (I wear a size 5.5 and my center stone is 2 carats). A beautiful ring is a beautiful ring….regardless of size! People can be jerks without meaning to be…..don’t pay attention to any of it!

1 ct? Reeeeally? My diamond is the same size, and my finger is actually a bit smaller, but your ring looks 2x bigger – it must be the setting (which I love, by the way – beautiful!).

It’s gorgeous!  I love a 1c solitare, have one myself.  ๐Ÿ™‚  I wear a 9 and people tell me mine looks big.  So I know how you feel.  I usually reply with “well it’s just over a carat but the setting makes it look bigger.. thanks.”  People who look closer usually compliment the clarity more.  I designed the setting because I like it, so, whatever.  No one else needs to notice the details.

It depends on your area. Where i’m at- that’s HUGE. In like, CA or NY they’ve probably got toe rings that big so it’s a personal thing.

I however think your ring is lovley. Yours and DeathByDesign have seriously made me wish I went with a Moissy, I freaakkking love you gals rings. In white and yellow gold. Perfect!

What a beautiful ring!!! It looks fabulous on you!

I think the 1 carat is a perfect size, even though it does look huge to me too!  But that could be b/c my main diamond is a little under .75 or something like that. ๐Ÿ™‚  Maybe some of your friends are in the same boat (smaller diamon in their rings) and just forget to include the “it’s gorgeous!!” part. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think it’s beautiful.

I do know how you feel though. Many of my friends got married in the 22/23 age range. Most of them have center stones that are .5 or smaller, but still beautiful rings. Fiance and I are almost 27 and 30, and have careers. My center is 1.2 with a high setting and compared to most of my friends looks huge (even though I don’t think it’s that big). I love my ring, but I consider huge to be anything 2+.

Anyway, I was in the dr office when the receptionist noticed my hand and asked me if I’d gotten engaged. Before I could even reply the other office girl goes “OMG that is HUGE”. I was slightly embarrassed as she too had just gotten engaged and had a very modest ring. I just smiles and mumbled a thank you before running out the door..lol.
