I just got my ring and have been trying it on before the official engagement and I’m worried I went too big with the stone! It was a secondhand lab diamond for a steal and I might have gotten too excited about the deal to think about proportions.
My fh made a comment about it being too big and it made me feel so self conscious. I never wear jewelry and our moms never did so we don’t have a frame of reference. I went through the whole design process myself and now I’m so unsure! What do you guys think? Should I start over with a smaller one? I thought since it was a solitaire it would be okay a little larger.
I also feel like the band is very high off my finger if it makes sense, like it’s pushing a gap between my fingers. It’s at least a quarter size too small though and I was very insistent that a band fit underneath it…am I just not used to it?

It looks perfect to me! It’s really beautiful and once you start wearing it you will get use to it. When I first started wearing mine I was like “Woahhhh” and now I barely notice the size. I still see it as a nicely sized stone. It’s just not overwhelming to me now that I wear it and see it everyday.

thanks I’m trying to tell myself that! I’m so glad I didn’t go bigger but I’m hoping this one settles in my eyes.

Looks perfect to me too! Very pretty

I think it’s perfect! Wondeful finger coverage and a simple setting that still makes a statement.

I think it’s super pretty!!

Perfect. Don’t change a thing.

It’s gorgeous! You’ll be surprised how fast diamonds “shrink” – before you know it, it’ll feel just right and you’ll wonder if you should have gone bigger! It’s really stunning. If the band feels too thick between your fingers, AND it needs to be sized up, ask the jeweler to thin the inside of the band – will fix both problems! But it’s a dainty band, width-wise, so don’t thin it too much – you need that thickness to add strength, since it’s narrow (I’m guessing the width is under 2mm?)

Thanks every one, you’re making me feel a lot better about it. I just need to look at it more often and get used to it…no problem haha!
it’s 2mm exactly, do you think it’ll be fine? There’s also a tiny surprise stone on the other side. It’s a purple diamond to signify my birthstone, an amethyst which was too soft. I love it! Here it is on the model’s hand (the ring’s been locked up in the safe!). That would be amazing it I could fix both problems at once!

New question for fun… How big would you guess it is? My fingers are a very short 4.75

What a beautiful ring. Looks perfect!

I’m a big fan of proportional stones to finger size, and yours truly is perfection! 😍 “shrinkage” is real and that stone will look normal to you in no time!

It is perfect on you looks like a 1.5-2 carat

I think the stone looks fine, but I’d probably reset in something that fits you better.

I love it!!! I also love secret stones. I have a little rubies on mine. It’s a great size.
