Also, I don’t think you’re overreacting. One of my FIs friends mentioned something about settling, and it was all fun and games until I started crying. Not okay to joke about wedding stuff, just not okay.

“Another idiot”? Wow, that’s a bit harsh. If this is what wedding planning does to people, then I think I might elope.

LOL I think you’re just getting crabbier because people have always been saying stupid shit, I think it’s just getting on your nerves even more because you are STRESSED. LMAO your posts reminds me of myself and my best friend, I think you would fit in nicely with our circle…lol I’ll share some stupidity:

My FI’s family is NOT FUNNY AT ALL, but think they are HI-larious. One time, my SIL who has a .75 year old baby was talking to my Mother-In-Law about how she would be bringing in meat platters for Christmas dinner or whatever, and my Mother-In-Law was like “eh?!!? How you going to bring in such a heavy platter?!” and then my SIL casts a sardonic gaze to her child and said “I’ll get baby Joe to help me carry it in!!” The room erupted into laughter, and I merely looked up from my book to look at the entire family laughing for like 5 minutes, and I just had this deadpan look on my face. HHHOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH OooooMG!!! Your baby will CARRY IT IN!??!?! LOLOLOLOL I mean, he’s like what, NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET!!!! HAHAHAHA It will be TOO HEAVY!!! hahahahahahahahahahhahahahhah!!!!!! SUCH WIT! SUCH BRILLIANCE!!!!

ಠ_ಠ

It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t say shit like this all the time. BUT THEY DO. So I just relay it to my best friends who all agree it’s dumb as hell and we have a merry laugh. My Fiance is supremely entertained by my reactions to his family’s “humor” as well. He starts laughing HARD when he sees my face. I love the people, but they say stupid ass crap all the time.

It’s just you.  You yourself say:

Fi and I are ALWAYS joking around and we are always the ones doing the stupid and funny thing that people will tell stories about later.

And

While I think 90% of things in the world are funny

People would naturally assume you would find humor in this situation, too.  It’s a WEDDING, not a funeral.  The only rude/dumb comment was the person expecting you (and/or your FI) to attend a party on the night of your rehearsal.

Go get a massage and destress for a bit.

ETA: If it bugs you, just say nicely, “Hey, I know I am normally the biggest joker around, but I do take my wedding and marriage very seriously, (Shocker, I know, right?!), plus, I’m totally stressing, so if you could ease up on the joking, I’d appreciate it.”

LOL, it’s probably pre-wedding stress.  Anytime you’re stressed out, doesn’t matter what it is, people always say stupid things that normally you wouldn’t notice but suddenly you want to choke them for.  Take deep breaths, and maybe try to arrange more relaxing ways to excersize until the wedding to have some YOU time before then, maybe yoga?  It’ll be fine, I promise!!  Don’t forget, while you’re busy and stressed beyond belief, no one else is because it isn’t their day.  They’re happy for you, but it ends there…so don’t blame them for not knowing what you’re dealing with at the moment.  Just breathe!  Smile

I agree with most everyone on here. The first one was just a joke; don’t let that get under your skin too much. The second one…the person was definitely being stupid. Weight comments are ALWAYS a stupid idea. However, that person probably ended up feeling stupid afterward. The one that peeves me is the last one. A rehearsal dinner is a totally valid reason to skip someone’s party. The fact that the issue was continuously pushed afterward was not ok.

@PinkFlemingo:  IT WOULD MAKE SUCH A GOOD STORY!!!!!!!!! I mean, if something bad DOES happen, I plan to roll with the punches (get it? black eye joke??)

You could totally play it off that you got cold feet, and your Fiance had to force you down the aisle.
