I think it’s on the smaller side, compared to the weddings I’ve been to but I have a huge family.. so a small wedding doesn’t really exist.

Maybe statistically (looking at all weddings and how many guests most people have) it’s considered small. I’ll probably have about that many people. I’ve been talking to vendors about my small wedding, because I thought it was, they usually don’t blink or bring it up in the first place when I tell them the count. Then my aunt asked me how many people would be there and I said something like “Not that many, about 75,” and she was like “That’s a lot of people!” So I guess “small” is subjective, except for those working in the wedding industry. 😛
@PrincessBrideSuzy: Ha! You cracked me up with your “stop and have a cocktail” comment. hehe I think you will have a lovely wedding and that 70 may be small in comparison to the large basilica, however, it’ll be just the right amount of people to feel like a full celebration but still have the time to approach and be with everyone there (not overwhelmed with 300+ guests!) Enjoy!
That’s not too small. I’ll have between 70 and 80.
Everyones oppinion varies when it comes to this issue. I think vendors say things like that bc some weddings are HUGE they invite everyone they know and their parents know and their siblings and all their friends etc. I dont think your wedding is small I have been to a lot smaller. But I dont think its a large wedding either. I would also say medium sized. I think your wedding will be perfect dont stress about your venue.
Mmm, I consider small to be 50, medium 50-125 and large is any number over 125. I wouldn’t call your intimate though! I think 70 is a great number (I’m having 80 and any more–my reception venue would be packed).
Thanks for all your comments! I guess it’s all about perspective 🙂
We are having a little over 90 people and have been told that was small. We got a call today from our venue they want to move us to the larger ballroom which holds 300 people because they did not book another wedding for the same day only a chrsitening so they want the wedding in the bigger room which is fine because i like that room better but i think it made look werid to have 95 people in a room for 300 people. What do you think?

We’re having about 80 at ours. Everyone keeps telling me that’s average. I would consider it a medium sized wedding, but I’m having a destination wedding so maybe that’s why it’s average. I think it’s perfect! Anything bigger would be too crazy for me.
@PrincessBrideSuzy: nope! I got married in a giant catholic cathedral and we only had about 80 guests (but maybe half showed up to the ceremony)…to me it still looked like a lot, most people were spaced out a lot.
We are having about 30 people at our wedding, but yet again it is in Vegas and I live in Vancouver B.C… but still I think 70 people is a lot of people and defintly not a small wedding.
