For our favors, we are giving a maple candy from my hometown, an English toffee from his hometown, and a made in Hawaii candy from where we live now. They’ll be in a brown paper lunch bag stamped with a coral branch and tied with raffia and a small mahalo (thank you) note with the person/family’s name on it.
So, would it be ok to do one bag per family if we put in extra candies for the bags that would be going to several people? Our guest list is bigger than we had hoped, and we need to cut back wherever possible!

You don’t even have to give favors out at all! So no worries…

Yup, favors aren’t mandatory.
We only gave one per family because ours were expensive and no one seemed to care.

Just a note re: cutting back. My parents’ neighbor is making most of the maple candies as a gift to us, and we’ve already purchased the other things. We’re just trying to avoid spending even more (hence the brown paper bag packaging! ) Our reception is on a farm, so hopefully it will fit in with the rustic theme.

I think its perfectly fine – as it is the favors take a chunk out of money you may need for other items.
