I would see about booking a block of rooms for guests who dont want to travel all that in one day. Pretty much every wedding I have been to most of the guests stayed at a hotel and there was a shuttle that took us to and from the reception and the ceremony. Definitely helps the guests have a better time as there is no concern about people drinking and driving!

Well considering alot of our guests had to drive 10 hours to our wedding I would say uh no 1 hour drive to a wedding is not rude

@BabyBrain: mine is local to me, but 1-2 hours for half the guests, and 3-4 for about 25% of them. do what makes you happy, but know i fyou are having people drink they need an alternative. either transportation, or a hotel that is right there.

I’ve ended up looking at the venue that is closer to everyone else…we have an appointment to view the venue on Wednesday morning. It is twice as much, but you also get to use it for the entire weekend, not just one night! Soooo, we’ll see how we go! Where I live a taxi can get anywhere easily – it is the cost that becomes an issue. But it’s my wedding. If people love me enough they will come. and if they dont – then they miss out on my fantabulous wedding!!!! 😀

All of my guests traveled either 1:15 (my family) or 4 hours (DH’s Family). The location meant a lot to us… so… do whatever you and Fiance are comfortable with!

I’ve driven a 1-2 hours away for a wedding. One of them was a bit earlier in the day so the time thing wasn’t an issue, but the second one was in the evening and we did leave a bit early- so I think that’s to be expected.
