I can see the paranoia, but I feel like you should be able to trust your doctor to know if it’s safe.  Otherwise why on earth is she your doctor?

A pap is a tiny scraping of surface cells. It will not harm your pregnancy. Lots of pregnant women get paps.

superlurker:  Is she concerned about something or are you just due for a Pap? I ask because they’ve recently changed the recommendation to having one done every 3 years (unless you have a history of abnormal paps) instead of annually. So if it can wait 3 years, I would think it could wait a few more months until you deliver and are more comfortable with the idea. Now if she is concerned for some reason and is looking for something in particular, I’d say go ahead and do it. It is minimally invasive and will likely be fine, maybe cause a little spotting. But just to meet a check mark on your schedule? Nah, I’d wait.

It’s safe.  Dr will only use a soft broom to swipe the cervix with. When you not pregnant, your pap will include collecting cells from inside of the cervical canal with a rough brush.  But that part is not done in pregnancy.  Even if you have some spotting afterwards it’s no big deal.
