I really think it’s a-okay. They even make really cute real-looking-plastic-silverware it’s wonderful.

I think the way you are presenting it is nice, so it adds a little dressing up to it and is easier to have it ready and all together for your guests.  The nicer real looking stuff is expensive my Boyfriend or Best Friend did this at her outdoor reception and they looked very nice.  I think I saw some at costco last time, but generally it’s tough to find and like you said expensive.

What you’ve described is perfectly acceptable. Make sure that it’s good quality and won’t break easily. The plasticware from Costco for example is much sturdier and less likely to break than most of the plasticware that you will find at the local grocery, especially the store brands.

I think plastic ware is great for an at-home reception! You won’t have to worry about washing all those pieces, or where you woult get them from. As plus side, using paper napkins to wrap them up, allows for you to add more color and personal wedding details into the party without having to actually add an extra element.

Absolutely! I used plastic for a night time reception in a nice place (GASP!) and it was fine, nobody died, and it even did it’s job of getting food from a plate to someone’s mouth. 🙂 Seriously, people will try to talk you out of it, but you do what you can afford! 😀

I have been wondering about this too. We are having an outdoor reception too. I like your idea of the raffia.

These are plastic plates and fake “silver” cutlery I used for the holidays. I got a great deal on them at BJ’s.

We are using the Silver look ones for our wedding in June. We ordered from Webstrauntstore.com and they ended up being about .14 cents each with shipping for us.

I think plastic is fine as long as it’s not the really cheap white kind that are difficult to use in cutting even soft, cooked food.
