I am attending a wedding for my cousin this september. It will be a 6pm wedding in a museum with an adult only reception to follow. I found a dress that I really like but they only have it in red in my size. It is a long sleeve, maxi dress with a split. The collar comes up almost to my neck. The only skin that gets show will be one leg when I walk.
Ladies, do you think if I wore it it would be an attention grabber? I’ve never been one to look like everyone else, but I don’t want to stand out as “that girl”
PS…I was thinking of having the split lowered as well.

@heavenparadise01: You should be fine. I don’t think there is as much of an issue wearing red to a wedding as there used to be. Or wearing black for that matter. The rule about white still holds true unless you have a really cool bride like myself (I put my entire bridal party in white and encouraged the parents to do the same.)

I say go for it, BUT if it were me I’d have the slit lowered. My eyes about bugged out of my skull when I saw the dress, but I live in an area where that dress probably wouldn’t be as acceptable. At least I’ve never seen someone where something like it, but perhaps its different on the east coast.
Just my 2 cents 🙂

I would get the slit lowered a LOT, like to mid-thigh or just above the knee. But it looks like a very subdued red!

That’s beautiful and I would say very appropriate…if you lower the slit. I like the red dress the most of those shown.

@heavenparadise01: I actually really like that dress! I’d get the slit lowered, but wearing red to a wedding is totally ok, particularly in the fall/winter months. Plus, it’s not a bright, bright red – it looks more subdued.

Like pp’s have suggested I would lower the slit. Lovely colour.
