Well i was suppose to be due/induced on the 8th and now its being pushed back till the 16th. I know thats only a few extra days, but im SO DONE bees! plus ive craved nothing but sushi and a drink this last month of pregnancy. So im curious is sushi safe to eat towards the very end of pregnancy? the only thing i truly crave is a spicy tuna roll, ive read differing things on it though.. That tuna is an absolute no no but most other fish is fine, but im really only a tuna sushi fan.
im just curious to know if any other bees towards the last week or two of pregnancy said screw im eating what i want after 9 months of possibly not having it.

I mean, there are entire cultures who eat sushi pregnant or not pregnant who are perfectly fine with that diet. Thousands of years of eating that. I wouldn’t deny a craving because of modern recommendations when clearly people literally live off nothing but fish and have no issues. When I get pregnant I won’t limit anything I eat but alcohol etc. if it was good enough for the last thousands of years I’m sure I’ll be fine eating soft cheese lol. But that’s just my opinion.

I’m on my third pregnancy. I had a tuna poke appetizer the night before my c section with number two and went into labor 3 hours later- ha, so maybe if you’re looking to get things started early?
All kidding aside- everything in moderation- and I’m sure a sushi roll isn’t going to harm your fully cooked little human at this point (and probably wouldn’t have a couple of months ago either). Aside from cutting out booze (with an exceptional glass of wine here and there), I’ve basically continued to eat all of the food I normally do when pregnant (including caffeine, lunch meat, weird cheeses, etc) and all of my kids have turned out just fine. I blame any of their weird quirks on genetic anomalies obviously inherited from their father- not the moldy cheese I ate at 6 mos pregnant. Congratulations!

I ate sushi on a weekly basis throughout all nine months of my pregnancy. I did limit tuna consumption because of the mercury but other than that I went for it. I think as long as you’re eating at a reputable place (not gas station sushi) it should be fine!

Ate sushi through my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies and it was one of the biggest things I craved. Had it a few times in the beginning of this pregnancy but the soy gave me such horrible migraines I had to stop. I say eat whatever you want just don’t do drugs, smoke, or drink. I still drink coffee and eat like a normal human. I mean, get sushi from a reputable place though…which you should do anyway Haha

Same as previous posters. I ate sushi throughout both of my pregnancies, once a week about. Kiddos turned out ok. I wouldn’t go crazy with the tuna but salmon, cooked eel, crabmeat from a reputable place is totally fine! I did have a few pieces of spicy tuna but mainly stuck to the other fish options

I’m 17 weeks along and have already been occasionally eating sushi from restaurants I trust (limiting tuna though). I couldn’t find any good evidence that the risk was high enough to worry about, and I saw that recommendations in countries other that the US are far less strict. I think we’re more likely to get sick from a salad with all the produce recalls that keep happening, and you don’t hear anyone telling pregnant women to avoid veggies, do you?
