passthepeas :  Oh, but the ban just means a “simple 90 day delay”, amirite?

orangeblossomspecial :  No kidding. What happened to the idea that “hey, that person is a human being so injustices/suffering matter to me”?

Sunfire :  you intensely dislike violent words…and you voted for Trump?

Also, just so you know…voting for Obama twice isn’t really the strong proof of not being racist that you seem to think it is. It’s basically equivalent to “I’m not racist, some of my best friends are black!”

saratiara2 :  Trump was just “joking” about punching and roughing up protesters, and his comment that he could “shoot somebody” in midtown Manhattan and not lose any political support was of course encouraging non-violent support! And he was just laughing along with all his supporters calling to “take the bitch down” and “kill the bitch” in reference to Clinton, who of course were all themselves just doing so in loving jest. None of it was actually hateful or violent speech! Only “hysterical” liberals would think otherwise.

The pearl clutching over peaceful protests from people who support Trump is absurd.

Trump said Hillary Clinton MIGHT BE SHOT IF SHE WON. His adviser repeatedly said she SHOULD BE SHOT BY FIRING SQUAD.

You don’t get to justify that and then object to women wearing vagina hats. Get real.

saratiara2 :  agree re voting for Obama doesn’t mean a person isn’t racist. I would argue its the opposite, because all I hear from people who claim this (and if they are real, they really need to alert pollsters) is that they ZOMG voted for a black person, so all they saw was his skin color.

If they voted for Obama over his policies, his brains, his even temperament and his ethics, there is no way they could vote for Trump.

furthermore, anyone who is bothered by racism could not have voted for Trump, so repugnant were his rhetoric and his actions.

fox news likes to push the Trump belief that millions of obama voters voted for him. This is inaccurate for obvious reasons:-)

in reality, that narrative came about due to certain districts where Obama voters stayed home and trump voters showed up more than in 2012. It appeared to be less than 7% per Salon analysis at end of November:

http://www.salon.com/2016/11/27/obama-to-trump-voters-are-not-a-myth-mdash-but-theyre-also-not-the-real-story/

A New York Times analysis of YouGov data finds: “For every one voter nationwide who reported having voted for Obama in 2012 and Trump in 2016, at least five people voted for Trump after not having voted four years ago. Clinton attracted substantially fewer 2012 nonvoters, the data show.” YouGov data suggest that only 7 percent of Obama voters flipped to support Trump, and the real number could be even less. Though these individuals make up a small share of Trump voters, they have drawn extensive attention

He wants to destroy the state.

yeah.

edit: my other theory is that he is the sort of supremacist who believes that a worldwide race war will lead to the dominance of white peoples and culture.

passthepeas :  the purpose is to give Putin power. Undermine western democracy he gets to lessen power of NATO as he has stated is a goal of his.  This would give Russia even more power and undermine ability to impose sanctions etc.

Side note: suggestions that kremlin sold 19% of Russian oil stock to shell companies that may or may not represent trump. So there’s that too.

Not to derail, but the Devos vote is coming down to one more senator voting “no.” Two GOP senators broke ranks and voted NO (Collins and Murkowski). There are still some senators on the fence:

Gardner (CO)

Heller (NV)

Toomey (PA)

Moran (KS)

Capito (WV)

Fisher (NE)

Seriously guys. CALL! (202)224-3121

Breaking: Homeland Security formally suspends travel ban after the ruling by a federal judge in Seattle yesterday. Before anyone gets all screamy about those goddamn liberals, Federal Judge James Robart was appointed by Pres. George W. Bush in 2003.

Canceled visas will now be reinstated and anyone already holding a valid visa that hasn’t been canceled will be permitted to enter the U.S. immediately, as if the EO never happened.

YES!!!
