I still have only ever seen them here. I havent been to one wedding with it so I would be thrilled to go to a wedding with one.

Besides, when does candy go out of style?

Not at all! Can you think of anyone who would turn their nose up at a table full of candy? We are planning one at our wedding and we are still months and months off!

@lefeymw:  totally agree. i have actually never been to a wedding where they had one. i think that they are popular around here and on the ‘net…but to most people it is an unexpected bonus! i’m having one and am totally excited about it!

I see them everywhere, but only on blogs and websites.  I haven’t been to a wedding with one.  I can’t say I’d be thrilled beyond belief at one, but sure, it’d be fun.  I think you should go with it if its what you want to do – trends be damned!

But yeah I like cupcakes better 😉

we did a cheescake bar….but it wasn’t their favors though….it was just cuz we don’t like traditional cake and preferred cheesecake instead…

i too haven’t been to a wedding with a candy bar though….i think it’d be fun!

What trends in weddings online doesn’t necessarily mean your guests have seen it at every wedding they have been too recently. And most people who aren’t planning a wedding even know what is trending in weddings.

I have only been to one wedding with a candy bar.

If you love the idea go for it and don’t worry too much about what is and isn’t trendy.

Do it! Like PPs have said – the only people who would think it was “trendy” are other brides.

I did a candy bar and provided plain ball jars (that doubled as placecards) for favors. It was a big hit.  It looked beautiful (I bought mason jars in all sizes) and I bought different types and colors of candy.  I wish I had the pic here.  I Loved it.  Who cares if it’s popular?

i’ve never seen one in real life, either… just in blogland.  i think if you love it, you should go for it!

Things seem way more popular to people who hang out on wedding websites than normal humanity. If I see another cutsie “vintage” wedding with mason jars and chalkboard signs and wildflowers and tea cups I may barf. (Nothing against them, if my wedding weren’t at Christmas I would totally have one too!) It seems like every photographer’s website and everyone on here is having one.

But in real life, I have been to one, and everyone there thought it was great. So don’t worry, what is popular on the interenet world of weddings is original to normal humans!

I have never been to a wedding with one, but i just went to a baby where there was a small one. I don’t think i would really get candy from one. when i went to the shower i was hesitent to take anything from it even when they asked us to.

@Klb5882: Can I just ask, what was it that made you hesitant to take candy from the ‘bar? I’m just curious, because I really want to have one, but haven’t ever been to a wedding with one, and am wondering if guests will actually use it, so your experience would be helpful – thanks!

I’ve been to 5 weddings in the past year (including my own) and only 1 of them had a candy bar and it wasn’t even a color specific candy bar. I say do it! Most guests do not attend that many weddings and do not know how popular the trend is….and candy is always delicious!

chasesgirl “Normal Humanity” I love it!

How about a sweet and salty bar? My friend is doing this so it includes yogurt covered almonds, chocolate covered pretzels, etc! I think it’s way cute!
