I don’t have one but I played around on the one my Mother-In-Law has….. I hope I don’t get a few people mad about saying this…but I find them to be a bit…pointless and I probably would not buy one. Don’t hate me!!! o_O.

I think they’re great (though I do not personally own one)… but it might be a bit excessive if he already has the lateest iPhone and a nice MacBook.

I bought mine as a gift to myself for finishing grad school. I have to tell you I am utterly obsessed with it! I’ve had it since May, and I am constantly using it when I get home from work. I just find it very useful. I can watch Netflix on it, use the internet, use the apps (currently trying to get pregnant-so I have a bunch of preg related apps). I also use it to play games on the airplanes when I need to travel for work. I dont know…I bought it thinking it was something “cool” to have (I dont have an Iphone or any other apple device)…and I definitely think I got my moneys worth!

I LOVE mine. I had an iphone when I got it and I have a macbook. I haven’t turned my macbook on in months. I’m in nursing school and can get all my books on my ipad and i use it to take notes, record lectures, etc.

At first I thought it might be pointless but soon learned otherwise. I love that it is more portable and accessible than the laptop, but bigger and easier to use than the phone.

I was torn between getting the 64gb ipad2 or the 32gb new ipad and after playing with them in the store i went with the 32gb new with the retina display and i have not been let down.

I have not seen a mini so I can’t comment on that but i think the regular one is the perfect size!

If I didn’t have the money to buy one I could have done without, but it certainly is a nice luxury!

I think it depends on what you use it for. I use mine a ton. I’m a teacher and my kids use it, I use it at school, home it at home. I’m now on it more than my laptop.

I love, love love my Ipad. I never use a laptop at home any more, just the ipad. I hate having to boot up computers. I love it to cook off of recipes, to read books, to play games on. Darling Husband and I watch netflix in bed with it even!

If money is an issue, I’d go for the 16GB Ipad. I haven’t used anywhere near my 32GB and I have tons of apps.

It really depends on what you want to use it for.  Fiance and I have the iPad Mini, and it’s perfect for us, since we only really use it for browsing the web and reading ebooks.  If you’re just gonna lounge around on the couch holding it, I personally find the regular iPad too big and heavy.  Fiance had been wanting an iPad for a while, but I didn’t have any interest in it until the mini came out.  I love our iPad mini though.  We also both have iPhones and MacBook Pros, and haven’t yet found the iPad to be redundant.  Everything just works so well together.

If he’s going to be using it for a lot of videos or something, the screen on the regular iPad is probably better.  Fiance sometimes complains about the screen on our mini, but honestly, I’ve never noticed an issue.

And this is probably completely irrelevant, but I also think the mini just looks a lot nicer.  The bezel on the sides is so much thinner, and it’s just a sleeker, nicer look in general.

It’s totally worth it.  I never thought I would want one until I was given one as a gift.  The first month or so I just played with it a little bit, now I’m using it every day and sometimes not even using the laptop and completely using the iPad.  I haven’t seen the appeal of the mini because it’s just a step between an iPhone and a regular iPad.

But honestly, if you’re not sure about it, you can always wait.

@Mrs. Coyote:  Well, see I am not that big on technology really so if he is then he would probably like it!

I use my iPad alllllll the time. But, in the interest of full disclosure, my laptop is a monster from 2006 and it weighs like 10 pounds lol. If your husband has an iPhone and a macbook he doesn’t need one, but I would imagine he would still love it and use it a lot. I personally would not get an iPad mini because the screen isn’t big enough. To me, that’s way too close to an iPhone, and seems pretty pointless. The iPad fills a void imo–it’s so much more comfortable to use and portable than a laptop.

My bf got me one for my birthday and I’m obsessed with it! I can’t imagine living life without out it! And I have an iPhone and a laptop but I still prefer my iPad

ETA: My sister has a mini and I can’t stand it… it seems so pointless when it’s not that much bigger than an iPhone and the screen is so small compared to the iPad. I like my iPad for watching movies on planes, which I wouldn’t do with a mini

@Mrs. Coyote:  In that case, I’d go with the regular iPad for sure.  We don’t use ours for videos, since we have Apple TV and we use that for our YouTube watching and such.
