I don’t understand it, I have never seen it done in a way that doesn’t look like someone just let their roots grow out.  I hope it’s on the way out!

That pic looks like someone trying to grow out their old bleached highlights, sorry.  Should be easy to accomplish, though – just color your hair and then let it grow out without doing any touch ups.

@Mrs. Honeybee:  I love it!  Ok, I’m slight biased because I have it.  lol  I like the subtle look more than the harsh black/blonde look.

I think Jessica Biel the best example:

I’m so far behind the trend that I had to look up what ombre hair was.

@Mrs. Honeybee:  If you like it do it, screw what is in style and do what you want.

OHHHHHH. People do that on purpose? I thought they were just really lazy.

    Well now I feel stupid…

I hope not as my hair is naturally this way and I love it. Go for it!

I personally don’t like this look.  The sun bleaches out my naturally dark hair in the summer, so it looks like this in the fall when some of it grows out.  It looks like roots to me, which is annoying.  But maybe your stylist can weave in a few highlights to make it not look so two-toned.
