- Wedding: June 2014
So here’s the situation: I have two best friends, L and C, who I have been close with for years. These women are of the life-long friend variety, very mature, and we’ve managed to stay close although we’ve all been leading very different lives for the past 3 years. I live in our hometown, L moved to New York for college 3 years ago, and C frequently travels all around the US and Europe, and could be literally be anywhere in the world at the time of my wedding next October.
I know that logically it is best to wait until 9-12 months before the wedding to ask them to be my Maids of Honor (yes, I want them BOTH to be MOH’s 🙂 I cannot pick between them and don’t want to!), but I know that I won’t regret asking them and, if for some reason they cannot attend my wedding next year or need to bow out, it would not offend me or make me think less of my friendships with them.
C and I will be in New York to visit L next month. I don’t know when I will see them both again in person (it wouldn’t be until December, at the earliest) and I am anxious to ask them to be my Maids. FH thinks asking them together next month is a great idea.
So ladies, what do you think? Should I wait to ask them, even if it might have to be over Skype? Should I ask them separatley? I know it’s proper ettiquite to ask separately so I can ask them about their budgets, but I plan on asking both of them to wear a little black dress. Style, price, and where they buy the dress doesn’t matter, and that’s all that I will expect them to buy for the wedding. Your opinions are appreciated!
