Some friends and I were sitting around laughing because I absolutely cannot each peaches that have the skin on them. For some reason the texture rubs me the wrong way and just gives me the creeps when it touches my teeth. I can eat them when they are peeled, but not with the skin. Funny thing is I can eat nectarines with the skin no problem!
My mom can’t eat anything that looks like a maze or is too intricate inside. Like an artichoke heart. For some reason she has this really weird phobia about things that have squigley lines and look like mazes…maybe she was trapped in one as a kid? I think it’s hilarious, but obvsiously she doesn’t. This means no artichoke hearts, pomegranates, or anything else like that for her. lol.
What are your weird food issues/phobias? I’m getting a big laugh out of my poor mom today!

sauerkraut and licorice (or along the same lines, anything spiced with fennel)

Mushrooms and fish… can’t do it… oh and chicken or any poultry off the bone… and if I can see the fat, forget it. I am such a picky eater… There are TONS more things that really just grose me out. I HATE being so picky!!!

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We were packing this for lunch every day before the wedding to save money and I’ve always hated them, but now I’m at a point where I can’t even be near them!
Until just recently I could never eat oatmeal. The consistency freaked me out.
And I know it’s a new trend in hip restaurants to serve all kinds of weird fats and parts of the animal, but I cannot eat duck tongue, pig ears or anything with cartelidge. I do actually like bone marrow and pork belly though.

Tapioca pearls! I hate the texture. Oh, and I hate organ meat.

I have a milk phobia. It’s not as bad as it used to be – I can eat most cheese now (if I take a lactaid first… since I’m now lactose intolerant), but I am TERRIFIED of milk, yogurt, and ice cream. I have to wash my hands if I come into contact with them.

Bacon (YUK!). Also coconut and oats (they feel like pieces of paper instead of food). Horseradish also makes me want to cut my tongue off.

Just can’t eat dead animals or anything that comes from another animal.
Black licorice . . . mmmmm.

I will not even try liver….EVER. Sorry, no matter how someone may say it’s good, I just don’t believe it. Yuck!

@mrs.peters.to.be: I wonder if your mom’s issue is that she’s worried bugs might be crawling inside.

Coconut, mushrooms and sweet potatoes, but that’s cuz I’m allergic to them!
But I can’t do scrapple, OMG it freaks me out! But I can eat braunschwager, go figure

I have an aversion to spagetti sauce. It gives me nightmares. No really, it does. When I was a child I ate something with refried beans and tomatoes in it (I don’t remember exactly what it was) and threw it up all over myself later that night and I was so scared that me parents would be mad so I didn’t tell them and didn’t know how to clean it up so I was soaked in my own vomit for 8 hours. It was awful and now I can’t eat anything with those two ingredients together.

Any kind of fake, processed cheese, especially the super orange nacho cheese they have at ball games.

Peanut butter. All nuts. Coffee – though you don’t eat it. Most food that is purple.
