We are waiting for our honeymoon and are actually kind of excited about it. Our wedding is on October 15th, and we’re leaving on our cruise January 1st. Fiance is in law school and he can’t take off a week from school for a vacation until his Christmas/winter break. We will be staying two nights in a nice hotel though, pampering ourselves as a “mini-moon”. We’re excited about the honeymoon in January, because 1: We will be relaxed and ready to enjoy the trip, and 2: Gives us a vacation to look forward to in January. Everything will work out, and you’ll get your well deserved trip 🙂

We had a few days off after, but it’s now a year since our wedding and almost a year and a half since our civil ceremony and we are JUST going on our honeymoon.  🙂  I can’t complain though… my husband and I have been able to do a ton of travel in our relationship.

We are waiting a few months because we are getting married right before I start studying for the bar exam.  I am a little bummed too but am glad I don’t have to worry about planning the two so close together.  Also I think at the point it might be the most deserved vacation I will ever take.

@mhackney21:

Our 2nd baby was a year old when we got to take our “honeymoon”.  Although we did stay in a nice hotel the night of our wedding.  Here is something you also might like-even if you are working (during the day?)  maybe this will inspire you when you are at home together in the evenings or on the weekends? I hope that you enjoy your newlywed time just the same.

Due to various reasons, we decided to do mini-moons throughout the remainder of the year.  Unfortunately, it looks like our mini-moon after our wedding will be our mini-moon of the year.  Having a mini-me is more important to both of us(in our 40s) so we’ll have our honeymoon on of these years.  Actually, I’m more interested in having my destination 5yr vow renewal.  I knew we would be more focused on starting a family immediately and I always wanted a Destination Wedding, so I intend to have my Destination Wedding.LOL

Our honeymoon is postponed indefinitely. If we can take one on our 1 year anniversay I will consider myself lucky. This is due mainly to budget reasons and the fact that my husband can not get time off work at all.

We’ll be waiting a few months because I’ll be in the middle of an audit at work and taking off for more than a few days just isn’t happening.  It’s not a big deal, I think I’ll be more excited about the honeymoon if I have more time to plan it.  Honestly I think my boss feels worse about it than I do, she kept apologizing to me.

Fiance doesn’t quite get enough days off work and school, so we’ll be going on a very nice mini-moon for a couple nights, and then hopefully to somewhere warm in late February!

We had to wait 6 months due to time and money.  I was bummed for a long time, but the week of the wedding (we had to travel to our hometown), I was sooo glad I didn’t have to plan even one more thing.

We had all winter to plan and save money.  When we finally got to go, we really appreciated it.  We met several other couples who also had delayed honeymoons–not as uncommon as you would think.

I say save it for a time you can enjoy it!

I also remember you posting on some budget wise issues, so It would be to your benefit to plan something out work towards it.

When your 6 months in and everything is dragging, being whisked away will be amazing!

Your honeymoon doesn’t need to be right after the wedding. My FH and I are having two weddings. One in FL and one in CA and we are going to need to take more time to set up for both of our weddings. We won’t be able to afford the time or money for a honeymoon right away. We figure we’ll take a honeymoon in a few months after. – that way we can make is as long and as nice as we’d like it. Good luck! – I hope you have a great wedding!

We both are and are not waiting. let me explain! LOL We are getting married and June and wanted to have a Disney World honeymoon. We decided to wait to go in September for a few reasons. Less expensive, less crowds, we are driving and this will give us time to relax more before we leave, and for the timing of FI’s vaca time.  Instead, we are just going to go the New Hampshire to the lake for a couple nights after the wedding, just a cheap little getaway for a few days. Then the real honeymoon for a week in September. i am not bummed at all because I think we will be able to enjoy Disney more than we would in June.

We didn’t have much money after the wedding so we took a week off of work, but just stayed home and went out to eat to nice places and such.

9 months later, we went to Cancun for our vacation/honeymoon. It kind of sucked at first, but at least you have something to look forward to later!

We’re taking a honeymoon 2 months after our October 22nd wedding. Mr. B works for the schoold district and said we either could take a few days after the wedding or a 10 day honeymoon when school’s on winter break at the end of the year. Hmmmmm which to chose? I pick the 10 day honeymoon driving up highway 1 from San Diego to San Francisco with stops along the way. I’d honeymoon in a teepee just as long as my husband (so weird to type that…:D ) was by my side.

Can you take a few days after the wedding to get away and then when time and finances permit take a longer one? Keep in mind you’re not alone taking a postponed honeymoon.
