Yes - they had a portion and could invite who they wished

Yes - they had a portion but had to check with us before the invites went out

No - we chose all our guests, after all it is our wedding!

I chose other as I didn’t give them a general allowance to invite a set number of guests but when we were discussing the guest list, they mentioned a few people that I hadn’t considered that they would like to invite.  Since there were only about 5 of them, I was happy for them to be added to the list.

My parents are paying for the majority of our wedding, and in turn I asked who they wanted to invite.  I want them to be happy, and they’re not the kind of people who will impose their will just because they’re contributing financially (thank goodness!)  They said they were kind of bummed they didn’t invite more people to my sister’s wedding, and sent me a list of 16 people (3-4 of which will likely RSVP no due to health issues.  :().

FI’s dad gave us a list of family friends as well, which is another 11 guests…so our parents combined invited 27 people, which is 17% of our total guest list (160).

That seems like a lot, now that I’m writing it out!

I don’t understand this, why would you let someone else invite THEIR friends to YOUR wedding? Hell no…
