We just received a check for our wedding that was made out to my fiance and I but with his middle name as our new last name. So we became Mr and Mrs his middlename. I’m pretty sure this happened because of our wedding invitation having my first and middle name then his first and middle name before it saying son of so and so. Do we have any options besides requesting a new check? I can’t bear to have that awkward conversation!
I know it’s a long shot but just thought I’d see if anyone has similar experiences or advice.

Take it to the bank asap (with your new husband in tow since he will need to be present) and explain the mixup to the manager. They see even weirder things than that everyday so no need to feel like you are the only one who has ever brought such a thing to their attention.

Uhh… put in the bank machine and hope for the best. I used to work at a bank, and I’m not saying they don’t go over every single check that’s deposited with a fine tooth comb, but… yeah.

I agree with Ember78. Go with your husband to take it to the bank. Make sure he has id that has his middle name. In fact, if you have an extra wedding invitation (to explain the mixup), it wouldn’t hurt to take that either – you never know what will help.

I agree that if you take it to the bank and speak with a teller, they should be able to work this out for you.

We had some issues with names b/c I changed mine and then people gave us checks for my maiden name. We talked to the person at the bank, and they said that as long as it’s not a huge amount of money, they probably won’t notice.
