I brought my dress home 8 months early.  I didn’t leave it at the salon.  I took it to my moms and hung it up in her closet with a white cotton sheet draped over it.  I left it in the bag, but had the bag completely open.  No yellowing or anything happened.

My dress just came in and I’m not getting married for another year.  Luckily the salon will hold it for me, insured against damage from fire, water, etc.  There is an extra charge for this.  If I didn’t want to pay the charge, I could take my dress home and risk storing it myself, without any insurance if something happened to it.  Maybe your salon has this option too?

The best thing to do is to take the dress, leave it in the garment bag and get one of those under the bed rolling storage containers at walmart/target. Put the dress in and tape the lid down. This will protect the dress from dirt, water, bugs (probably not fire though…).

Great question. I was wondering the same… I think I would be very tempted to have it at home but if I did I would probably try it on everyday. Lol.

@Soon2bSuttle: Don’t worry about being tempted to try it on every day. I definitly need help getting into mine, and my grandmother isn’t physically capeable. So I don’t have to worry about that. I do like to look at it from time to time though 🙂
