DIY invitations look kinda cool, but I’m wondering if anyone knows of any chic/modern ones around? The ones at michaels look cool, but a bit too traditional for me. I’d design my own but the prices are a bit too dear for printing so I’m thinking that this would be the best route…
Has anyone seen any modern/trendy ones around? I’ve attached a few that illustrate what I’m going for…if anyone’s seen anything similar online I’d love it if you could paste the link in?

Have you checked etsy.com? Nearly everything there is homemade/DIY. While you may not find letterpress as it requires expensive equipment that most people will never use again, there are quite a few creative designs, depending on what you are looking for.

Yeah it’s a good idea, and I adore Etsy, but I’ve noticed that invitation vendors on Etsy tend to run fairly highly priced. Often a custom invite from a template by an etsy seller can be more than a custom design from a professional company. I suspect this is because Etsy sellers are starting out and aren’t able to sell at bulk rates.
My thought in going DIY was to see if I could get the price down, a lot of the DIY websites show them for as low as <$2 per invite, my only hesitation is that they can be a bit traditional, which isn’t what I’m going for…

Take a look at creativemontage.com for ideas as they are a custom professional company. I don’t know of any others off hand that are in that price range. You could try projectwedding.com and see if any companies listed there are able to work with your vision and budget.

We are getting invites on etsy, but we are printing them oursleves, so semi DIY. there are lts of DIY invite son etsy, just search for ‘printable’ or ‘diy’
The deisgner will work with you on colours and fonts etc, and then they send you a files, e.g a pdf or similar. Then you can print yourself, and add all the extra bits you have above, the belly bands etc.
No they wont be letterpress, but I think non letterpress might look more modern anayway? Juts my opinion.
There are lots of moderndesigns on etsy!

Check http://www.downloadandprint.com. She provides FREE printable templates for invites, RSVP, envelope liners, etc and they are super cute. I think she adds new ones everyday, so I’d bookmark her page.

By DIY, do you just mean a kit that you can work with? (You mentioned not wanting to design or print, so I’m a little confused.) I can’t really think of DIY kits a la Michaels along the lines of your inspiration photos, but Minted has a lot of really cute, modern designs, and while it’s not cheap it can be reasonably cost-effective to order just the main invitation from them and print your other pieces and dress your invitation up at home.

Mine are very sleek and modern like some of the ones you posted, but I literally “DIY” /myself/. I designed them in Illustrator and had them printed. If you don’t want to bother with that, I second the suggestions that you look on ETSY, there are some really great designs!
