I know a lot of people who have traveled the country by greyhound to follow bands. Wash up in gas station bathrooms and you’re good to go.

RunLift1234 :  I used to be terrified of flying and the only thing that made it better for me was doing it more.  I fly a TON for work and only get anxious when there is bad turbulence.  It really is something you can overcome by doing.  I take buses all the time, but 60 hours when you could spend a few hours on a plane?  Nope.  I would definitely fly.  It will get easier, I promise!

60 hours is a lot and I’d personally fly, but if you can’t get past the fear of flying, I don’t think taking the bus is crazy or dangerous. Plenty of people use buses as an inexpensive way to travel.

I can’t say I’ve ever done a bus trip that long, but I’ve used Greyhound/Peter Pan to get between east coast cities (4-6 hour bus rides) in cases where it just made sense financially to do so. It’s usually much cheaper than a train and many buses are only a slight step down from an Amtrak. I think they have a bad reputation, but these days the major bus lines have wifi & bathrooms not unlike plane bathrooms. People who hang out at bus stations can be a little skeezy, but I’ve never had a bad experience once I’m on the bus.

That said, I’ve never taken a bus ride long enough where I would have to sleep on the bus without also having a travel companion, so the main thing I’d be worried about is making sure nothing gets stolen while you sleep. In this scenario I’d consider putting all your valuables in a money belt worn under your clothes or an inner pocket of a jacket you wear at all times.

Wow, there are even 60 hour bus drives going on in this world? Just wow. Here I am missing my best friend’s wedding because that’d be a 12 hour drive and that’s just like… Insane for me  just for a wedding at least.

Good luck. I don’t know how a person ca n stand that sort of a travel even if it is the safest.
