My fiancee and I have been to weddings on both sides and we’ve noticed that neither of our families dance, as in it’s awkward how few people are on the dance floor. Everyone mostly sits around and visits. My family is big on card and domino games and I’ve often played dominos with his family. We were thinking of not getting a DJ and instead getting playing cards and dominos as the favors that our guests could play with at the reception. Does that seem like a good idea? If you were a guest would you rather have a plain deck or a personlized one?

Are all your guests family? I don’t think it’s a good idea to assume that all guests would prefer to play games. Maybe provide music and games? I think it’d be a good idea to at least have some kind of background music. Even just an Ipod.
I would prefer a plain one over one personalized with the couple/date (assuming that’s what you mean.)

We want a small wedding, but our families are quite large so the number of nonrelated guests is probably going to be less than 10. We were also thinking of having a bunch of games for the children. I’m the youngest of 13 cousins and I think all of the ones who have kids have at least 2 right now. The bestman is very good with computers and can rig something with the sound system and a laptop for background music. It worked quite well at his sister’s wedding.
