Hello! First post here.
I’m going in to get my dress alterations in a week or so. I haven’t actually seen my dress in a very long time (Over a year)… So when I was looking at photos… I kind of realised that the neckline does not look like a sweetheart one. Or is it?
At the time when I got this dress I really had no preferences. Over the years my interest in looking at different dresses (online and in magazines) has grown and now the neckline unfortunately worries me. Lol.
I hope that they are able to alter it.
Another thing. My fiancé saw the dress. I am hoping they can make alterations so it doesn’t look the same. The dress is non-refundable/final sale.
When I bought this dress, they did say they can add more of that crinkling in the bottom of the dress.
What do you think?

I think it is absolutely STUNNING as is and I would not change a thing about it!

@Daephine: I’d call it in between a sweetheart and a scoop neckline. The dress is drop dead gorgeous!!! Don’t worry about your Fiance seeing the dress – it is simply magnificent!!

My dress had a neckline shaped like that and it was referred to as a modified sweetheart. Personally, I prefer it over a true sweetheart. I photoshopped a true sweetheart onto my dress and the original modified sweetheart looked a little more sophisticated.

I would not even consider altering the neckline of your beautiful dress. I had a sweetheart neckline, and I would have been much better off with the type of neckline that your dress has. Regarding your Fiance, don’t worry. As a guy, he likely is not going to remember every detail of your dress, and seeing you IN the dress on your wedding day will be a completely different experience than his having had a glimpse of your dress in the past.

@Daephine: It’s a modified sweetheart, but I wouldn’t alter it- that would mess up the beading on the neckline.

I think it’s gorgeous and would leave it as-is, but hint to Fiance that the dress is being altered. I am 99% sure that he’ll believe that it was when he sees it, LOL.

@Daephine: I too would leave the neckline alone. I would add WAY more of the crinkling at the bottom though. The way it’s only in the middle and maybe a third down looks like its not finished. I would add it all over

@Daephine: I think it’s gorgeous! I love the neckline at the top, I would consider it like a slight sweetheart. And I particularly love the beading, I want to get some beading on the sweetheart neckline for my dress! And I’m not sure if you could alter it without messing up the pretty beading.
I think you need to figure it out when you try it on again, for one thing, in that pic is the dress in your size? If not, it might look more dramatic in your size, and/or with a strapless push-up bra if you think you want a little cleavage 😉

My dress had same neckline. I wouldn’t change it. It was perfect for me.

@BeeG35: I bought a “modified sweetheart: just like the OP. Mine didn’t have beading so I made it a “true sweetheart,” with the beading it’s not going to alter without gettin rid of all that nice detail. It’s a beautiful dress and looks lovely on you- keep it

@Daephine: To answer your title questions: Is it a true sweetheart? No, but I think it is modified sweetheart! Can it be altered? Maybe but I would discuss this with a professional.
Please consider that the detail may be ruined during alteration. At the end of the day it is your dress and only you can decide if this is the path you really want to take 🙂
I personally like it as is but think it would be beautiful if altered 🙂

@Daephine: It’s a modified sweetheart neckline and it looks absolutely lovely on you. I don’t think you should make any alterations, and even if you did, they would not be massive enough to make it “different” to your fiance. If you add crinkles to the bottom or a deeper sweetheart, those are things i promise he would never remember or notice.
