I want our father daughter dance song to be sweet child of mine by guns n roses. Anytime it comes on my dad says how he played it to me on my mom’s stomach so it’s my song. It’s also a little different than the average sappy father daughter country song. It would be a sort of difficult to dance to though and my mom is against using it as a song for that as she says it’s too odd of a choice. My dads other option is my wish by rascal flatts which I also like and it would be easier to dance to. But it is more cliche and doesn’t exactly hold meaning.

if it means something to you and your father, it is the perfect song.

If it is meaningful to you that’s all that matters.

You could try finding an accoustic cover of it that might be easier to dance to. However, if it’s a special song to you and your dad, then you should be able to dance to it whether or not you find a slower arrangement of it.

sweet child of mine is my father-daughter dance!! it is such a special song between my dad and I and everytime I hear it a flood of memories rush back to me. we’re using an acoustic version that I found on youtube, it’s beautiful and totally appropriate.

If it means something use it! Like others mentioned finding an acoustic version would be a nice spin.

I love the acoustic version idea! Does anyone know of a particular artist?

anonbee4321 : I’ve actually heard some really good string quartet versions. You can listen on you tube

My dad picked “My Wish” which was a little SAPPY for my tastes. But I wanted the dance to be meaningful to him, and went with it. That song is really LONG when you start dancing to it, so if you go with that, you might talk to your dj about fading it out partway through.
I think Sweet Child of Mine is sweet, though. I’ve seen it on dad-daughter dance lists. I think Sheryl Crow did a cover of it.

I like Slash’s own acoustic version of it with Myles Kennedy. That version was actually on my list for awhile.

anonbee4321 : You two should try dancing to that before you choose it. Very difficult IMO.

I’m also using this! I love the electric guitar in the original version so I am torn on finding the right beat to dance to and not caring. I like acoustic versions, but not as much as the original

I say DO IT!!!! Husband and I actually walked out from the ceremony (starting the recessional) with the Vitamin String Quarter version of Sweet Child O Mine since it’s one of our songs!
I actually danced to a Hendrix song with my dad- so don’t do something traditional and sappy (plus it’s boring for others to watch)… do something meaningful!

If it’s a special song for you and your dad dance to it.
