Fiance and I are brimming with ideas… but we want our wedding to be elegant and fun, not a circus.
Is this all too much? Should we cut back? Am I creating way too much work for myself? (this will all be done by me and a few close friends to help)
-cotton candy machine (I’d like the attendant to wear suspenders and a mustache to fit our vintage theme)
-smores station (is this a fire hazard?)
-ping pong table and bags on huge outdoor patio during extended cocktail hour. Fiance had the idea of blowing up our faces and putting the hole where the mouth is, then I’d make bags with things like sushi rolls (my fav) and protein bars (his fav) for our guests to throw. I think that would be really funny. FYI- both of these would be really clean and nice looking. We thought it would be fun to give guests something to do during the cocktail hour.
Ok, I guess that’s all I have. Is it too childish? I guess I’m worried about what the conservative older folks would think :-/

I think those games would be fun, and would really make your wedding memorable!! I was actually just watching an episode of Four Weddings where they played different games and I thought it was a GREAT idea! I say go for it 🙂

Sounds super fun! I still regret NOT doing the cotton candy machine since it went with our color scheme! Go for it!

just a question, is the cotton candy machine loud? I had originally wanted to have a coffee bar with an espresso machine, then I thought about how loud they are and I didn’t want that noise constantly overpowering my reception. I would love a cotton candy machine, though!

Photo booth is great! Im also doing that. I just say no smore station dint think that would be safe.

That’s a good point about the cotton candy machine…. whenever I’ve seen them at carnivals, I never thought it was over the top loud… but I should double check that. I’d think with the band playing, it would be ok.
After some thinking, we’re going to nix the ping pong table. It’s just not worth the hassle of transporting it, setting it up, etc for just a few people to play on it.
Thanks for your feedback!

A cotton candy machine is pretty loud, you definitely cannot carry on a non-yelling conversating within 10-15 feet of it. It’s also very messy; the little bits of cotton candy fly up all over the place and anyone standing close will be sticky.

Could you substitute different games for the ping pong table. Ladder ball corn hole etc? I dislike receptions for the boredom factor so LOVED your ideas.

I’d nix the smore station. I love s’mores as much as the next girl but I think it could get messy. I love your ideas for all of the games, but I could see the personalization of the cornhole game really tedious and time consuming. Maybe do something easier there, like a monogram?

I think they sound great. Can you put the cotton candy machine outside on the patio too?

I say you should choose to do either the cotton candy OR the smores station, not both. I like your other ideas, photobooths are always great hits!!!

Smores might be a bad idea. No one wants their nice clothing to smell like a campfire. And they’re really messy. I think that if you’re going for elegant, I wouldnt do the toss game with a huge pic of your face. Maybe something like a church and you throw wedding bells or rings in?
I like the cotton candy idea though. Very cute.
