bianca03 :  ahhhh I see! It’s always important to know the audience, I’d say a flowy cocktail type dress would be perfect!

maybe something with this type of silhouette? Since it’s not a super fancy wedding, yet you’ll still be dressed up

Fellow Canadian! I suggest 1861.ca , local Montreal store with fantastic dresses for weddings and good prices! Some may be more formal than you’d like but you can dress down easier as PPs mentioned – I find keeping my hair down and beachy helps! bianca03 :

bianca03 :  if your invite is written in Italian, I assume either bride or the groom is actually Italian. From expirience of actually going to a few weddings in Italy of actual Italian people, the guests do dressy but in a very simple and chic way.

I don’t think what you picked will make you feel at ease and like you’ll blend at the wedding. Can you post the invite we might be able to help. Outdoor tent wedding in Italy doent necessarily mean casual especially if the bride or the groom is an actual Italian-Italian.

Also I second a dress in knee length dress in a single color or neutral palette or a classy maxi with nice shoes, bag and pashmina.

Hi, European here!

I do like your playsuit but I don’t think it’s appropriate for a wedding. It would still be a good option for the welcome drink party if they’re having one!

Also I think it’s so hilarious that people are suggesting such warm dresses for a summer wedding. Is it that cold in the US? Black and that much fabric in the european summer would be unbearable! Plus the historical rules of wedding etiquette say no white (or similar because that’s for the bride only), no red (because that’s considered a provocative color and can only be worn by the groom’s sister) and no black (because that’s a sad color that we wear to funerals). Not everybody follows these “rules”. Personally me and my friends don’t care about red or black at all. But I think the Italian people in general are really respectful about traditions and superstitions. If you can’t directly ask the couple I think it would be better to avoid those colors just to be safe.

A flowy solid color midi dress is always a great choice! Be ready for 28-40ºC degrees!

liksye.liksye :  No, it is not “that cold in the US”. Temps that range from 70-100°F are normal here. I understand in Europe, they are not.

FutureMrsBex :  This.

Sorry Bee, it does look like a nightie with shorts- or a dress someone hemmed that was meant to be longer, it just has an unbalanced, unflattering vibe to it.

I think a cocktail dress or more casual but still appropriate maxi dress would be better. Seconding the idea of asking someone else who’s going to gauge the formality.

Sorry my dear bee, not a very suitable garment. Basically its shorts and not awfully flattering ones either, l’m sorry. I think the long sleeved top of the playsuit\romper is oddly ill matched with the baggy shorts part.

More or less any nice flowy dress would be better. As another pp said, slightly overdressed is always better than underdressed anyway. At least then you look as if you tried and didn’t just throw on some beach/weekend outfit.

If you go to H & M online – or in person if one is local to you- they have tons of dresses (most priced $79 or less at regular price and lots of sales going on now). If you look at their online website, you’ll see a drop down menu on the left and under ‘Summer Fashion’ you’ll see a sub heading ‘Wedding Guest’ you can click on.

https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/women.html

I recently shopped there in person and bought three dresses – 2 of them were $20 each and a third was $25, all on sale from $59-$89 each and at least one, possibly two, would be appropriate for a wedding.
