Lakeside003:  Looks fine. Most cruise lines’ formal nights are not nearly so formal as they used to be. Many women just wear a sparkly top and black pants.

Dress is perfect! What cruise line? Your Fiance can just wear slacks and a jacket and would be fine without having to rent from the cruiseline

Lakeside003:  love it! I just bought a floor length blue chiffon dress for our honeymoon cruise’s formal night in December! My Darling Husband is going to wear a dark suit and tie.

I think it’ll be just fine. julies1949 is right that “formal” isn’t really “formal” anymore. I’ve been on Norwegian and Carnival cruises over the past 3 years and that would have fit in no problem.

TheGridMonster:  I went on a carnival cruise in September and the OP’s dress would have been overdressed imho.

j_jaye:  Yeah, but I think it’d be fine with very minimal jewelry and light makeup. I though she was more concerned with being underdressed, so I just wanted her to know that that wouldn’t be an issue.

I do think a tux will look WAY too much for her Fiance.

That is beautiful & will be perfect for the formal night!  Some people dress to the nines, while others are in dress pants & a nice blouse.

This was Darling Husband & I about two years ago for the formal night on our cruise. (Picture of a picture, sorry about that)

This is a better “full body” shot of what I was wearing. I had wanted to wear a cute sparkly belt with this dress, but forgot to pack it : (

Lakeside003:  Yeah, suit+tie is probably the most formal I’d go. Although I wouldn’t blame you two for not wanting to carry around both a suit and tux. Maybe just have him wear the tux pants and a nice dress shirt?

Lakeside003:  Also, have an amazing elopement/honeymoon! I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Alaska. We went on a cruise a few years ago up there. One of my favorite places on earth. We’re hoping to go back again within the next couple of years.
