Okay, I need help from visual bees. I tried drawing the dimensions of this bag on paper, but it didn’t help – I have zero spatial sense.
I want to order these organza bags:
I want to put two Lindor truffles and five hershey kisses in each bag. I thought the small bag (4″L x 3″W) would be big enough, but it looks quite small in the picture. I guess that’s because it doesn’t fill all the way to the top because of the drawstring.
The medium bag is 5.5″ x 4″ and the large bag is 6.5″ x 5″. I want a bag where all pieces of candy will fit, but without too much extra space. Do you have any idea which bag I should get?

@everyheart: I’d say the medium bag (the one shown with the tins of mints) would be perfect.

I really think the small ones are fine and you would be shocked how those hershey kisses kind of fill in the space.. but you can maybe go to the craft store and buy one of the small bags to see how it would look.
editing this to also say… are those truffles the ones with the cellophane on each end? You could always trim those if you had to in order to fit them more snugly.

@everyheart: Why not take a paper towel, cut it to the dimensions (held together with tape or staples) and see if the things fit? Each of the drawstrings is about an inch down from the top.

A hershey kiss is about an inch tall, and the base is about 3/4 and inch in diameter
Lindor truffles are 1 inch in diameter.
So if my calcuations are right, and you allow for 1 cubic inch for each candy. You need 7 cubic inches. And the small bag has 12.
If you want to draw it how I thought of it. Draw a box for each inch within the bag, So if its 3X4 There should be 4 rows 3 columns in the small bag, and each candy needs one of those “boxes” so 7 candies would take seven boxes. So small should actually work I think!
But I could be totally wrong just a warning 🙂

@everyheart: you can usually find bags like this at the dollar store. i would buy a sample size similar to the ones you like and see what fits in it.
also, i am visual so it may just be me but i think because the bags are see thru, it would be better to have only 1 type of candy filler. it looks more uniform that way. i would go with either 2 or 3 truffles OR 10-12 kisses. i wouldn’t mix them.

Thanks for all the responses! You had really good ideas that I would have used if I had more time. I had to order tonight and went with the bigger one; I figure I can just add more candy if there extra space, since Hershy kisses are inexpensive 🙂
