What do you think of this dress for a formal wedding coming up next month? I don’t currently own anything else quite fancy enough. The version I ordered has more of the black/grey color up top on one side of the bust. The “no white to weddings” rule totally slipped my mind until after I’d ordered it (even though I just got married myself in July — though I cared less what my guests wore!).
If I wear it, I plan to add red shoes and some big, bright jewelry. What do you think?

I think it’s fine, as you’d definitely not be mixed up with the bride!

That dress is in no way bridal, you are totally safe! ‘rock it’ =p

The rule about not wearing white to a wedding means not to wear something that is ALL white. You can wear fabric that has wite in the pattern.

That dress doesn’t even remotely read as white. It will be fine.

Thanks, everyone! I’ve polled my female friends (I hate to bother the bride with something so trivial a few weeks before her own wedding) and the consensus was that the dress is fine. I’m glad some unbiased opinions seem to be mostly shoring that up. I appreciate the advice!

This is TOTALLY appropriate. This isn’t white – I definitely interpret it more as a grey pattern. Wearing something with a BIT of white in it totally isn’t inappropriate.
