I think you should do whatever you wish. Whether its for budget reasons or whatever, do what you want. Not what everyone else wants. Those invitations aren’t real fancy but who cares. I usually don’t throw away an invitation until after the wedding because it has all of the information on it, but yes i do throw them away afterwards. A co-worker of mine told me a few months ago that she gives her extras to her daughter to draw on. They’re just paper. I think I just saw an ad for Michael’s recently too that was promoting their newer wedding decor stuff. I’m sure you can find something nice and not cheesy. Oh and I think those do it yourself kits like that are made to just print at home.

Check out the printable ones by Anna Griffin – they are gorgeous and in no way look cheesy. They have them at places like Michaels. Sometimes they go on sale. You can take them to a print shop or print them with a regular home printer. She even makes matching papers, stamps, ribbons, favor boxes, decorations, etc. so you can carry the theme across your wedding.

Go for it! I think that people will feel honored that you want them at your wedding and won’t be analyzing the type of invitation that you send.

I agree with invitations just being thrown out or not being kept for a very long time. Outside of us worker bees, who really "Ohhhs" and "Ahhhs" at these things? 😛

This is why I placed a low priority on invitations..We’re going to DIY.

I always look at the invitation, and I figured that was just me, but there seem to be many people who could care less, unless it is something they have never seen before, in which case, then they comment on it.

Who has the time and energy to make sures their invite illicit an ‘ooo’ or an ‘ahhh’ from all their guests?

I totally think you will be fine with getting your invites at Michaels and printing them yourself…and if you want to add something, you can always embellish a little with a charm or a ribbon.

lol…i am sitting here with Michael’s latest flyer next to me….they have a diy kit marked down to $19 AND they have 2 of their 40% coupons as well.

they have these coupons frequently as i’m sure you know…i would check out some of the "nicer" invites and use those coupons to get however many you need.
