Without getting too specific for privacy reasons, I was wondering if anyone could help me on this:
I have been through the entire interview process at a corporate company and I am just waiting to hear back about a potential offer/rejection. The guy who I am in touch with (an HR guy) has been telling me how much the interviewer liked me and all of this positive feedback, he has kept in touch about how they haven’t made a decision yet and has always responded to my emails throughout the entire process but…it has been almost two weeks since my final interview and I am getting scared that he is just trying to let me down easy.
Should I stick around and see how it pans out or is this a no-go?

@Sjc4334: What you said just sounds like normal company hiring practices. It all takes a long time for whatever reason. When you were interviewing, did they tell you when they would need the person to start? Is it ASAP or was there some flexibility? That could help explain the delay if they are not in a mad rush to hire someone and a yellow flag if they are in a rush.
You asked if you should stick around. Personally, when job hunting, you should never put your eggs in one basket. Always be applying and networking. As long as you have done your thank you notes, you can only just wait it out.

@MrsNewDay: good point, the start date is in a little over a month. I will definitely keep applying places, this is definitely my #1 choice but as I have learned before when job hunting, sometimes things just don’t work out! Thanks for the advice.

@Sjc4334: I’ve worked at large corporate insurance companies and law firms and always hear about new hires getting that kind of treatment during the hiring process. People usually need authority from upper management and upper management never responds so the person your’re dealing with is just trying to smooth things over without telling you that no one is getting back to him. I was hired as the first choice at a company that used delay tactics for 4 weeks because they recently fired the manager and had to hire his replacement before they hired me and of course they couldn’t tell me that. I don’t think corporate America cares enough to let people down easy, if they didn’t want you I don’t think they’d be responding like they are. I think you have a good shot at this job and wish you the best of luck !

Just thought I’d update anyone who responded/viewed this thread. I did not get the job unfortunately. I really think it was between me and another candidate and for whatever reason they went with the other person. I’m a little disappointed with how they handled it but I guess that is corporate America, folks!
