I’m a waiting bee, but I wanted to post here because plenty of bees who are already engaged or married can share their experience/thoughts about this!
Before you were engaged, did you ever go to a jewelry store on your own to get your finger sized and/or to try on rings? I have been looking at a couple of styles and settings and I’m not sure what I would like on my own finger. I would love to have a bit better of an idea before my SO starts seriously ring shopping…
I don’t know… thoughts, Bees??

I haven’t been to a jewelry store to try on rings, but my mom makes jewelry, so I may have borrowed her ring sizer

@allyouneedislove: Honestly, I did not do that. I did, however, have conversations about the seriousness of our relationship that eventually led up to us discussing engagement and then going “ring looking” together.
I think it would be a little odd to try on rings and styles before having a serious discussion about marriage. Knowing your ring size is one thing, but I would think it would be better to divert one’s energy toward communicating more with their Boyfriend or Best Friend about their desire to move forward in the relationship than what ring they like.
Besides, no use in getting “attached” to a style in case he decideds to completely surprise you and chose a ring himself. In the end, my guy chose a ring he really liked and it wasn’t like the examples I showed him while shopping. Luckily, I like his choice way more than the ones I would have picked.
Just my opinion though….

Hi @bmo88, just to clarify, when I say that I am waiting, I mean that we have already had this dicussion and I know that a proposal is coming within the year.

We had a very open engagement process, so I got my finger sized when I knew he was almost finished saving for the ring. I was at Walmart with a friend and figured it would be a good idea. Turns out it was, because my finger was about a size and a half smaller than I thought it was.
