Personally I like it and would see it more as blue than white. It does strike me as a little formal for a park (I think maybe it’s the material?) so I’d probably go with something else, but I understand with the dress code being formal, that is a tough line to walk! Not too white and perfectly acceptable IMO.

In terms of the color, it’s white enough that I, personally, would pick it as a wedding dress provided I liked the cut and material.

Idk…the dress looks a little wedding dress-ish to me? Idk why.

My personal opinion is if you are questioning it, there are a plethora of other beautiful dresses you can choose from to wear to a wedding. If you choose another dress that you dont have to question if its appropriate, you can eliviate unnecessary stress/worries and enjoy the wedding 🙂

It’s not something I would wear, but I think it’s fine.  And definitely not too white.

Having said that, I don’t know why people get so worried about the white thing these days anyway – when a lot of brides are turning up in red. black, pink…unless you know the bride is wearing a long white dress, you could equally find yourself ‘looking like the bride’ in a short blue dress or a yellow midi…

And to quote something I saw on another forum, if the guests don’t know who the bride is, what are they doing at the wedding anyway?

    The 70s/early 80s are back!

It’s fine for a wedding if you like it.

There’s nothing wrong with the colour in my opinion, it’s downright blue. It’s a thick fabric for sure. So it’ll look structured, but it doesn’t look like any wedding dresses I’ve seen. You can’t plan for every bride’s potential different colored wedding gown. Those being said,I don’t like the dress much regardless.

it looks purple to me so color isn’t the problem.

@lucyinsky:  As mentioned , if they wanted guests in formal attire, they should have indicated black tie, which is the proper way to indicate a formal affair.  By extension, people are assumed to know how to dress.

To ask for a formal dress code in the absence of a formal affair makes zero sense, though. Not to mention dress codes themselves are improper with the exception of a venue requirement. Again, unfortunately, some people incorrectly use the term “formal” attire to mean anything from no jeans to cocktail attire. Here, it’s anyone’s guess.

Knowing that the party is in tuxedos or gowns SHOULD be a clue but more often than these days isn’t. Like any other guest, dress is supposed to be according to the formality of the affair, not a level above anyone else.

With such a confusing invitation, I’d just contact them or someone close enough to them to know. My guess is the default cocktail dress and suit.

@lucyinsky:  I adore the dress! Would you mind sharing which website/designer it’s from?

Mmm the colour and style are also giving me slight ‘wedding dress’s vibes, I’d probably keep looking if it were me. I am sure there will be a beautiful and more suitable dress out there.
