Is this dress okay for a wedding guest?

To me, the point of not wearing white to a wedding is to let the bride have her moment and not wear something that resembles her gown. I would be 100% fine with this dress. It is a colorful, printed dress with a white background. I don’t see what the big deal is.

I think it’s great. In my opinion, it’s ridiculous that a dress can’t have a speck of white in it. This isn’t even close to resembling a wedding gown.

It’s gorgeous. If the bride were crazy, I’d say no. But since she’s apparently pretty low key and not insane, do it!

jb7979 :  This is one of the few white dresses I would think would be okay, but better safe than sorry!

I think it is fine but I definitely have friends who would side-eye it.

So honestly, I think if it were YOUR friend or YOUR family member, I’d go for it! but since it’s your BF’s family, I think you want to err on the side of overly overly cautious and try to blend in

I personally would not wear it to a wedding. Will anyone mistake you for the bride? Of course not, but it’s still too much white for my taste. If it were floral w/ white I’d say ok…but this is white w/ floral.

I dont see this as an issue at all…its not an all white dress. To me if a guest wore this to my wedding I really wouldnt care, people get so bent out of joint if it has a splash of white.. Esp during wedding season, its spring/summer its hot out and a lot of summer dresses have bits of white in them. Wear the dress.

I think it’s fine to wear. I’d rather have someone wearing something like this to my wedding than something super revealing and scandalous.

jb7979 :  nope. for two reasons: 1) it’s too white, and 2) it feels too casual/daytime. “new england manor” seems a bit dressier to me – this dress looks more “brunch wedding”

I just got married last weekend and spotted at least 4-5 different guests wearing white dresses with different prints on them. Dresses that would probably get a decent amount of “oh hell no!” if someone posted them on the bee, just because they had a white background…but are actually perfectly lovely and completely appropriate imo for a spring wedding.

I laughed to myself for a second and then went on enjoying the best day of my life! In fact, my aunt legit wore her own wedding dress to my wedding. Yes you read that right! It wasn’t a traditional wedding dress…was knee length and champagne colored, but she went around telling literally everyone who would listen to her that it was her wedding dress lol. Again I giggled to myself and filed it away as a fun memory of the day and went on to enjoy the ever loving hell out of my incredible, fleeting day.

Anyway, it was all a reminder to me that in real life most people don’t get bent out of shape about this stuff. I think the dress you posted is cute and totally appropriate, but if you think you’re gonna be stressed all night about offending some bridezilla with it, then I would choose something else for your own peace of mind!
