I would say no because it has a white base (and its basically a white dress with some splashes of color). Its a beautiful dress, but not appropriate for a wedding guest. You should definitely pick another dress 🙁

Good Lord, no one will confuse you for the bride in that dress. This dress is appropriate for wedding guests, however….it is NOT cocktail attire. If the wedding truly is cocktail attire, you need an actual cocktail dress.

Make sure that the bride is not wearing a gown covered with vivid splashes of color though.

also just for your comfort and not having people side eye you for attention mongering (which I don’t think you’re doing, but wedding seems to bring out the judgey in people) I’d wear something else.
sounds like you’d already decided that tho, so I’m just going to add, have fun! and depending on where in new england, I might recommend a wrap or layer you can tuck in your bag or something – summer nights can be cool if it’s an indoor/outdoor thing. you probably already know that, haha

I wouldn’t have a problem with it. It does have the white background, but there are bold floral prints that don’t resemble anything of a wedding dress so you’re totally fine there. I’ve seen wedding parties in all white too! Lol.
On a side note, I did attend a wedding once and the brides cousin wore an all white skirtsuit with giant fancy hat. It was a horrible horrible idea and thing to do.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Interesting to see the different opinions. I may save this dress for a different (non-matrimonial) occasion and err on the side of caution since it’s my BF’s family and I’d rather be cautious.
Those who said it’s not “cocktail” enough raise an interesting point. The wedding is at 4 pm and I assume the reception (which is at the same venue) will go reasonably late so I may want to go with something a smidge more formal without being ostentatious.
Maybe something like this would be more appropriate?

Ukulele4You : Those are gorgeous. I would totally do a floral print or unconventional wedding dress.
