Hello Fellow Bees,
Just want some input here…Recently started dress shopping..I have been to a couple places now and nothing seemed to “click”…UNTIL Sun…I tried on this Allure gown (C170) and fell in love. I realize it’s a popular pick so that worries me. Also, I am only 5ft, is this too overpowering on me? Does anyone know of similar dresses they’d like to share?? HELP!

Honestly, I saw the pictures before I read your post and I was surprised to hear you’re 5′. You look way taller in the pictures! I think it’s a good dress 🙂

I think it looks quite lovely on you!
I’m an inch and a half shorter than you are. I wore a mermaid gown, and still kick myself every now an then for talking myself out of a more princessy look.

The dress looks great and if it makes you feel beautiful, and stunning, and gorgeous, as you should feel on our wedding day, then by all means buy it fast!

I think the dress looks great on you. For my personal tastes, it is too much, but I don’t think it’s too much in the general scheme of wedding dresses (as long as it is venue and season appropriate).

It’s definitively NOT too much. You look great in it, and you look taller than 5′.

Thanks all!! I think that is one good thing about the corset..it makes my torso appear MUCH longer than it actually is!

It’s a beautiful dress but I don’t like that way it flows from the lower hip. I prefer the stremline from the hip down but this might due to no alteration yet.

Because you asked this question, and because I always strive to be honest and helpful, I am going to say that, in my opinion, the skirt of this gown is just too overwhelming and textured for you.
I totally understand why you are drawn to some of the various dramatic elements of the gown — the sweetheart neckline; the form-fitting, beaded bodice; the ruffled skirt accented with flowers. However, to me, the IDEA of this type of dramatic dress is much more attractive than the actual execution, at least for this particular gown. To me, the skirt of this dress appears to be swallowing the rest of the dress — and you.
Perhaps you could use certain elements found in this dress as inspiration to provide an idea of some of the elements that you’d like to consider in a gown. However, I suggest that you prioritize which element(s) is/are most important to you, since I think it may be too much to try to incorporate all of them into your final selection.

I really love the beaded bodice…and funny enough, when I first started shopping, I said NO pouf because I am short and felt that I would end up looking like a cupcake! I appreciate everyone’s opinion…I have a few months left to continue looking!

I love the dress and don’t think it makes you look short at all!

Nope. Beautiful! I love Allure.

It looks great! From the title I was expecting a crazy-looking dress, but I think this is very beautiful on you 🙂
