I love it. It looks like it’s made of crepe silk or some such nice fabric.

Very chic, modern take on the cocktail dress.

TBH,  I thinking awesome.  It’s so different from dresses you normally see. If you have the confidence to buck convention, go for it.

I think it’s adorable and with the right accessories and gorgeous set of heels, it will be great.

Love it! Especially given the venue.

evening wedding, major city venue, not too traditional, “cocktail attire”

My first thought was, depends on the venue.  Is it a museum/gallery or a hotel ballroom?  Then I thought I just feel like I don’t like it at a venue with carpet, basically. lol

Then I saw your update that it’s at the Nasher Sculpture Center.  I’d wear that dress there ALL DAY.  It’s perfect.  Great dress.  Looks not a thing like a tshirt.  I vote to simple shoes/accessories too.  Black shoes.

I love it for a sculpture center venue.  Accessorize and rock it!

It’s weird AND it works! I love it and I’d be thrilled if somebody wore this to my wedding (or any wedding). The dresses you usually see at formal events are lovely, but they can get a tad boring. Rock out with your bad self and get some fun shoes (I love

I think it is perfect for the reception you described. Plus with the accessories and heels it will look like a completely different outfit.

glitterati :  I love it!  I think what’s throwing some PP off is that the model is wearing it with runners (which I don’t think works with this dress at all)

Perfect for the venue too and nothing like a T-shirt dress – go for it!

I think it’s cute and if you wore some cute heels and accessories it would look great!

To me it looks like a painter’s smock, and not nearly nice enough to wear to an evening wedding requiring cocktail attire.

glitterati :  Cocktail attire doesn’t have to be tight. And a-line is fine for cocktail. The problem with the dress you posted is that it’s a very modern design that can be interpreted as less formal than a typical cocktail dress.

Personally, I think it’s the pattern that makes it look too casual. That + the fit = artist’s smock with paint stains on it. I get how it’s high fashion, but I don’t like it at all.

This is workable, high fashion, artistic to me.  I’m from Texas.  To me, I’d glance at you and think you lived in NYC, spent a month in Austin in the artist community, and were visiting the standard old guard in Dallas. I like it for the venue and like people who bring their own personal style (elevated) to events. I’d seee this and want to come have a chat with you when the elders got boring.  In this situation, the material and structure makes all the difference and would read better in person.
