I’m going to a wedding with my new boyfriend and I don’t want to look like I’m trying too hard or draw too much attention to myself. The wedding is super casual the groomsmen will be in jeans and cowboy boots. I would wear the dress with coral jewerly and coral sequin sperrys. Is this ok would you be upset if someone showed up to your wedding in this?

To me, this seems appropriate – and I would say that I error on the conservative side when it comes to “too white.”

@Fantastagirl Nah you’re fine. Anything with a pattern/stripes is acceptable. It’s the plain white dresses that may raise a few eyebrows.

@Fantastagirl Ooh! I remember you! So I just had to pop in and say hi. If you have a new bf it sounds like you’re moving on ok, which is wonderful.
I always think partial white like that dress is fine. No way can it possibly be mistaken for competing with the wedding dress.

Completely fine. A great many summery prints have a white background or a predominance of white in them. It’s very clear that your intention is to wear a cool, summery dress, not a dress to compete with the bride.

Totally fine, and that dress looks great on you!
Also, I am obsessessed with navy blue and coral right now. I’m going to a wedding in October, and I’ll be wearing a navy and white dress with coral earrings, necklace, and shoes.

yes! The crazy ex has finally stopped trying to contact me (I had to block him) and I just finished up a month long backpacking trip in Australia. I’m just starting to see this guy and I don’t want his family’s first impression of me to be that I’m trying to show up the bride!
thank you so much everyone else! I feel alot more confident in my purchase now!

I thinkit is appropriate. That being said: my rule of thumb is if I am questioning it is probably best not.

Totally fine. I always thought the wear no white rule just meant the whole outfit. As long as you can’t be mistken for a bride, its fine! I’m loving stripes. It’s part of my wedding decor.

Totally fine 🙂 I’ve worn a white and black dress to a wedding before and had the same concerns when picking out the dress. Everyone reassured me it was ok and while at the wedding I realized my fears were unnecessary.
