This is my wedding menu. My venue has the option to add on specialty stations for six to twenty dollars per guest depending on the station. I have been debating whether it is worth the extra cost to add more food. We are on a bit of a budget, but I don’t want my guests starving during cocktail hour and I’m not sure if passed hors d’oevres are enough. (There will be open bar as well) What have other people’s experiences been at weddings? Should I do one station in addition? Thoughts, ideas, experiences, anyone? Thank you so much!

@BriansBride: **drools*** yes, it’s great. i had a similar amount of passed hors d’oeuvres and it seemed to be enough food for cocktail hour. i am in LOVE with this baked brie appetizer…and the meatballs….and the ravioli..

At first I thought you were only doing passed hors d’oeuvres but this menu looks great. I understand that after watching shows like Four Weddings you may think you need more but this is right about what I would expect. Maybe even more?
At my wedding we only had 3 passed hors d’oeurvres and fruit and cheeses and then the main course. It was more than enough food for our guests! They needed to save some room for cake and an open bar!

I love your menu… It puts my little menu to shame ๐ If you do not mind if I ask what is your budget and guest count.

I think it looks great. If anything, I’d drop some of those passed apps and do just a general cheese and fruit spread to sit out so people can grab something on their own.

8 passed apps are plenty. Everything sounds great. If you wanted to add some kind of chocolate dessert, that could be cool, but certainly not necessary.

Thank you so much everyone!
I was just worried that people might be hungry for more than hors d’oeuvres for cocktail hour and I don’t want my guests to starve or think I’m cheap. I haven’t personally been to many weddings, but the ones I’ve been to had stations and I was scared that people would be upset without them. Thank you so much for your advice. It really makes me feel better if I end up not having the extra cash for a few stations.
@JJSoon2bwife14: Right now I’m paying $85 a plate (plus whatever fees) . We’re having a smaller wedding (inviting about 60 people) so a simple garden station might run us about $350 or so additional. Which isn’t terrible, but I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it. There are so many other things we can spend it on right now between the wedding/honeymoon. But at the same time of course it’s my wedding and I want everything to be all perfect and everyone to be happy and not thinking “she couldn’t afford some food for us?”
@SaraP2012: You’re right, I do watch those shows!

Sounds like plenty but I totally understand your worry! If you panic about it, I would say to add a crudite or cheese/cracker style station. It’s usually on the lower end of the financial spectrum but people will definitely eat it! Most places will let you get it for only some guests (ie cheese station for 50, 75, 100, etc). It also can look nice, so if you are worried about guests thinking there isn’t enough food, this will satisfy that visual issue. Honestly, though- it seems like a solid amout of (really yummy!) food! ๐
