Our wedding venue is available for us from 10am-4pm without increasing the food and beverage minimum. FH and I have discussed beginning the ceremony as early as 10am, but our photographer suggested that 10:30 or 11 may be more reasonable so that I’m not having to start hair/make up extremely early. Is a 11am-4pm brunch wedding an adequate amount of time? We don’t plan to have much dancing, just a short and sweet ceremony, mimosa/pastry hour, sit down meal, first dance, and that’s about it.

That seems fine to me! I’m having a fairly simple Sunday mid/late afternoon wedding, and our ceremony starts at 2pm and I anticipate us leaving the reception by 7pm. So the same amount of time you’re looking at. We’re having a short private ceremony, with time for photos and whatever else between the end of the ceremony and the reception starting at 3pm. At the reception we’re doing heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, then we’ll cut the cake, maybe do a few toasts, do first & parent dances, and exit. We are not doing guest dancing since our reception is in a restaurant and there’s no space for it. Mainly I just want people to have some good food and mingle and then head out whenever they like.
