- Wedding: October 2011
Ok, my wedding is 10/11 and we are having a small 50-60 guests, including children, outdoor ceremony and reception. My fiancee and I have both been married twice before…yes I hear the wows! and I’m ok with them…..lol. Long story short, both had shotgun weddings very young, then married thinking this was it, met eachother shortly after we’d seprated/divorced our 2nd spouses. We swore we would never remary, but after 4 1/2 yrs, of the best years we’ve ever had, we’ve decided we will do it again, 3rd times the charm. He ‘proposed’ (more like a sign of eternal commitment, since we didnt want to remarry) on x-mas 2008, after 2 1/2 yrs being together…..btw, we don’t live together yet…..lol. (I had the reception wedding second time, he never had any type of party for either marriage) We will have been together 5 1/2 years when we get married, moving in together 3 months before the wedding.
History being set down, I wanted a very simple ivory gown, had to be full length since I’m in a wheelchair and can’t wear shoes on my right foot. He wanted to help choose my gown, we’ve always shopped for clothes together and he always picks great outfits for me, so I agreed he would help pick my gown. I also wanted this to be about us, being the 3rd, and last because we will be together until the lord says otherwise, I want it to be special. So after trying on simple, elegant gowns, he saw a dress online, and said I want to see you in this. So I called the shop we were going to try on dresses, they had it and added it to my try on list. He fell in love with that gown!! I love it, it is simple in the beading, but has a train that makes the dress 2 tone, which he loved, so we got it. Now a friend made a comment ” I hope you’re not wearing a real wedding gown since you have been married twice before”…it hurt and bothered because it’s what he wants, he’s never had the “real” wedding and said that he wants me to look like the princess I am ( I’m ery slf conscious of having a wedding when in a wheelchair)
Is it so wrong? Should I tell my fiancee we need to go back and choose a simpler gown from our original plan? Here’s the gown, it will be ivory with harvest gold accent and girls will wear harvest gold with ivory accent
PLEASE BE HONEST,,,,,,NO OFFENSE WILL BE TAKEN!!!!!
