Yes the flower type pattern is part of the facet pattern of an oec. The dark center is because oec’s are cut very deep which can sometimes cause a fisheye. Oec Moissanite is hand cut so it varies from stone to stone. Not all oec’s have the dark center, so if it bothers you, I’d try returning it for another and specifically ask for a stone without it.

Looks like two things may be happening- a slight nail head (looks like it covers almost the whole of the centre, so more than a fish eye) effect in the middle (the darkening that is particularly obvious in the second last pic) and maybe the kozibe effect, where the open culet is reflecting through the rest of the stone. I love the Kozibe effect, but the nailhead bit is annoying aesthetically to me.

I agree that you may like to return it for a different stone if it is bothering you now.

According to the googling I’ve been doing today, these ladies nailed it.

2ndchance:  My moissy has that similar effect, but is not as dark as the ones in your pic. It could be because my moissy is smaller than yours. And my OEC diamond looks like that as well FWIW.

2ndchance:  my oec moissanite had some darkening in the center in certain lighting and depending on what angle I was viewing it from. If your happy with it then that’s all that mattets
