I’m really upset with my engagement photos! We had a 1.5 hour session and she could only give me about 37 on a CD. We got about 50 edited photos in prints.. I feel like this is really a small amount and we got slighted. She did a really bad job editing too. My fiance still had some sunburn irritation on his neck by the time she was done editing.
Additionally, alot of the pictures were of us kissing. Like 1/2 of them were us kissing or looking away. It was really difficult to find a straight on picture for our STD’s. I don’t know how to rectify this other than talk to her. I don’t want a re-do but I don’t want her to do my wedding (which is a jumbled mess vendor wise right now anyways). She did an awesome job with including nature in the shots but I feel like we deserved more pictures on that CD.

I’m sorry you’re upset with your engagement photos. Are there at least a couple you can use for your STDs? Really, you only need 1 that works for those. I wouldn’t spend any more money on re-doing them or anything. If she is your photographer for your wedding you should definitely talk to her about what you want and explain you wish you’d have more of that in your engagement pictures. If you think it’s really going to be an issue hire a different photographer for your wedding if you can. I had some issues with my engagement pictures (all of them were full body shots and not really any close ups) I explained this to my photographer and thought it’d be better for our wedding pictures but it wasn’t. My BIGGEST piece of advice when it comes to weddings is tell your photographer EVERYTHING you want/expect. I wish I had written an exact list of photos so I would have got what I wanted/expected!

charismacharm: Was it stated that you should be getting more in the contract? Did you submit a list of shots you’d want?

The number of photos you got was totally fine. For a similar length of shoot, we were guaranteed 40-50 edited shots. We received about 100, but some were color/black and white duplicates. We also got lucky with the number of shots that ended up being usable.
The real problem is that you don’t like the shots stylistically. This could be a big problem on your wedding day and you should definitely meet with the photog to work that out, or consider booking someone else.
