Do you have a history of hemorrhoids or have any straining? I got them when pregnant and it sounds like the same thing.

Ok- this is going to sound very, well, gross and like I’m all up in your biz, so bear with me…

If you strain to go (or like Smyley said, have hemorrhoids) then you can get little tears in your anus and it can bleed a little (like if it stretched too much to pass the stool) so you’ll get blood ON the poop and the toilet paper.

I’d not likely worry if this happens rarely or is only on the surface of the stool.  If you’re having trouble going, or if you find blood IN your poop, I’d probably schedule an appointment, but be prepared they might want you to bring in a stool sample *awkward…*

Sometimes and if you’ve been at all constipated from your vitamins and straining when you go, it can happen. I was pretty miserable all the way through, but they disappeared after delivery.

I’d check with your Dr. to be on the safe side.

Yep agree with the others.  If it is on the outside it is most likely from a tear or hems. I have this same problem.  You’ll need to up your fiber in take and try not to sit too long on the toilet and/or strain.  I have found that if I eat yogurt daily that i don’t have issues.  You do need to let the OB know and she might be able to tell you what you can take to help with irritation.
