I have a very similar ring to the one you posted OP. I think it is traditional but with a slight difference 🙂

If you like it then it doesn’t matter if it is traditional or not…

For that set you posted the link, you can choose very small band with very small diamonds on the sides and have a bigger center stone.  That will look nice.

Regarding Halo, what you can do is you can have a thin plain band (around 2 mm) and have diamonds that’s supposed to be on the band to Halo the center stone.  Also if you are not planning on getting a big center stone (less than 0.5) then you can select SI2 or I1 clarity (make sure you look with the loupe yourself) and color from G to I (especially if you will set it in White gold).

Ohh! Your budget is more than I thought! If you love that ring, get it… but I will look again tomorrow for you… its fun for me!! As someone who has thicker sidestones make sureeee you love it. Sometimes I feel as though from far away the center stone doesn’t stand out on my ring… I am actually considering changing my sidestones for ones that are a bit smaller!!!

Zales waaay overcharges. Shop around on the internet, and at local independent jewelers.

Also, it isn’t too traditional if you love it!

Oh yeah, definitely shop around. Most mall stores overcharge like mad. But honestly, if you like it, then it doesn’t matter if it’s labeled as traditional. I also don’t get why alot of ladies seem to view “finger coverage” as a negative thing. Some of us might like ’em chunky!

My Future Sister-In-Law has that exact same set!

I don’t think it is too traditional if YOU like it. It isn’t my personal taste (I like more vintage and of course halo) but it is certainly lovely. I do agree with the PP that you should avoid Zales, Helzburg, Kay Jewelers etc. These “mall” jewelery stores over charge like crazy and you get a lot less for what you pay for, especially for a ring like that which is pretty straight forward in design and common amongst different jewelers. Definitely shop around to find the best price!

Where are you located? Maybe a bee can recommend a good jeweler in your area.
