I LOVE it! and as others have mentioned, love the nickname ‘Cas’, but that’s probably because I know of a superhottie they call ‘Cas’ 😉 Caspian makes me think ‘really good looking guy’.

I’m not into it.  I like basic, common names instead.

@MsPoodles:  There is always going to be a number of people who like it and who dislike it….. and even if the majority dislike it does not mean that the child will…. so I guess were right back to where we started from with the parents choosing what they like… Otherwise I guess we may end up with ‘Temporary’ names until children are old enough to name themselvs….hmmm now theres a thought!

I don’t like that name and he will get made fun of with a name like that, but it’s not my kid

It does sound kind of girly, but my main caveat would have to do with giving him a name that has the phrase “peein’ ” in it.  And Cas as a nickname is a bit better, but it sounds feminine too, especially since I associate it with Mama Cass.

It wouldn’t be bad for a pet, though. Maybe you could use it as his middle name? It’s not a bad-sounding name on its face, and if you name him (something normal) Caspian (lastname), he can always go by Caspian later if he wants to, and by the time he is old enough to make that decision, he will have grown out of grade-school cruelty.

Yes, kids will make fun of many, many things…but my thought is that as a parent you shouldn’t make it EASY for them.

I knew someone with a very unique first name that his mom actually made up and she purposely gave him a common middle name, in case he hated the first name.

I like the name “Cas” but Caspian would take some warming up too but it is the name you picked and if you like it keep it. By The Way I associate “Cas” with the character from Supernatural!

It’s an unusual name, but  he won’t be one of several kids with that name in school or work. She doesn’t get a say and its wrong of her to bash the name ahead of time.

My first thought was of the book and character Prince Caspian. So he’s royalty in my head! Really though, it’s a great name. Cool, unique flavor but not a completely made up name. (Also, there are going to be SO MANY JACOBS running around in a few years – stay away!)

My niece has a very unique name, one I didn’t even know was a word and a name before she had it. My Mother-In-Law (also her mom’s MIL) really criticized the name and tried at every turn to convince the mother (my SIL) to change to one of my MIL’s choosing. My SIL stuck to her guns and everyone – including our Mother-In-Law – agrees that the little girl’s name is perfect for her!

Caspian makes me think of Narnian royalty (awesome).

Jacob makes me think of a werewolf who falls in love with a baby (creepy).
