Does anyone know whether or not it’s safe to have a colposcopy when you are pregnant? I have one doctor telling me to wait until after the baby is born and the other doctor telling me it is absolutely safe. Not sure which one to believe. Anyone ever had one during pregnancy? Or been told not to?

I think it depends how far along you are and if you’re in danger/high risk for preterm labor/bleeding etc.

There are risks and benefits to every procedure. Basically, I would suggest that you work with your doctor to determine if the benefits outweigh the risks for you to have a colposcopy while pregnant. The risks and benefits may be different for different people, and the change with the severity of the condition they are looking at, etc. For example, if it is a life-threatening condition, it may make sense to have a procedure that you may push off if it’s not life-threatening (this is only an example, not necessarily pertinant to your situation.). There often isn’t one recommendation that will fit every person and every situation.
What was the recommendation your OB/GYN made?

@EvaBostonTerrier: I agree with that.
I know we did do them in the clinic I worked in, but mainly if the OB was being cautious about the stage of dysplasia. If it was mild and could wait, he usually waited.
