My bridal shower/bachelorette party is this coming up Saturday. We are having my bridal shower then right after doing my bachelorette party. So to my question I just ran my first 1/2 marathon August 20th. I was super proud of myself considering a year ago I was 60 pounds over weight and would never have imagined I would be able to do that. I also ran it 10 minutes faster then I had planned to. I have also done 7 other races since March (I began running in February when I reached my goal weight) and was featured in the news paper about my training and performance for a race I did. I don’t talk about my races much with anyone except my FH and Dad. I was wondering if it would be to vain to set up a spot at my bridal shower to display my running medals, pictures, bib numbers, etc. just to show my accomplishments and things I am proud of. Is this to vain and showy?

I do think it is a great accomplishment congratualtions for all your success and hard work!!!
But if I went to a bridal shower that had this I would be confused as to how it related to the shower/wedding. Unless your wedding party is doing a running themed shower.

To be totally honest… I’d think it was a bit too vain if I was in attendance. It would be different if the person who was throwing the shower decided to do it without your knowing… but to actually ask someone to do it would put me off a bit.

I think it’s great you did all those races and lost weight, but I don’t think it should be displayed at your bridal shower.

@FutureMrs.Martin I agree- I’d be confused about what the tie-in was. Also, if I were hosting the shower I might be a little put off by the bride telling me how to decorate.
I agree, however, that it is a HUGE accomplishment and you should be CRAZY proud!:)

I wouldnt say its vain per se, but its a bit distracting from the actual reason why people are there.. I dont know.. I might be a bit confused at 1st if I saw it. I think it depends on where the shower will be held, is it at your place?

I don’t know how vain I would think it is…I would just be confused. I agree with CorgiTales…it would be different if they surprised you with it. I guess I would just be confused as a guest as to how it relates to the wedding.
But it is an amazing accomplishment…one I wish I could acheive!!

You could do it if that was your theme… you could even do a running themed bach party! Instead of making shirts or what-not, make little running bibs with like “team Tiffany” and fake numbers or something and the girls could pin them on. You could all wear running shoes!!
If that’s really a big part of who you are, tie it in to a theme, give a nod to it in some way, use the medals as part of the centerpeices for a running themed shower, I think that would be really cute. (I just wouldn’t set up a display probably, and I agree that it would be more gracious to just let your friends decorate how they want.)
Also, it seems like you really want people to know how proud you are of these amazing accomplishments but you don’t talk to anyone about it… You have every right to talk about it with friends and family, invite them to races, or to run with you!
